Default Chat room test (thanks to all who helped; test over for now)

I'd like you to stop in to a chat I added so I can see how it looks with several people in it.

This isn't an invitation to spam.

My thinking is that since game threads are basically glorified chats, but doing it this way results in a heavy load on the server with all of the refreshing of pages, posts, avatars, etc., why not just use an actual chat to cut down on the load?

This may keep things running smoothly during games, important press conferences, draft night, etc.

I'm just experimenting. This may not be the chat I ultimately stick with, and maybe there won't even be a chat, but I wanted to fiddle with it for a bit.

    Thanks.

While chat is nice, and a good idea that I would personally use.. I think it is also nice to be able to chronicle each game by the responses , whether kneejerk or sunshiner , because it is a chronicle of the moment and of our member's responses... One that any one of us can go back in time persay and read thoughts and emotions on almost every single play in the game...
With a chat, we won't have that and will be missing out on chronicling our journey , so to speak ..

But I do like the idea of realtime chat during games..

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

Theres an archive for the chat. We're playing with it right now.

Yep; an archive is being generated based on what is said in the chat.

    This may work out.

    I'm enjoying it.

I'm thinking of leaving it off unless there's an event going on. Pacers/Colts games, NBA playoff games, marquee regular season games, the draft, etc.

Right now it's not allowing posters with less than 10 posts in to keep potential spammers and the like out, but that can be changed.

We've been testing it out, and it works on iPhones, iPads, Droids, too.

    Thanks to everyone who participated!

This was a nice test and allowed me to 'fiddle' with various settings and see what it does and doesn't do. You guys really helped by playing around and asking questions.

I think this just might be here to stay; I dug it.

I've seen these on a few other fourms they are pretty popular. I mean people use them quite a bit.
