Default Since we are under the cap this offseason...(Cavs)

Since the Pacers are under the cap this season, aren't we able to make trades without salaries matching up?

If this is indeed the case, would you consider offering Cleveland fliers on Brandon Rush and Lance Stephenson in exchange for Anderson Varejao? He will have four years left on his contract after this season and I don't think Cleveland wants to pay him what they are paying him given his relative lack of offensive production and the lack of talent around him.

Is this deal even doable? If Cleveland is indeed trying to rebuild completely, which I assume they are, would they consider this? Maybe we throw in a pick if they give us Daniel Gibson to improve our PG depth?

I don't see them giving up Varejao without asking for either Hibbert or Hansbrough in return. They are trying to rebuild, after all.

I'd be willing to give up one of them. But which one? Hibbert/Varejao and Varejao/Hansbrough are both intriguing frontcourts. Varejao would be a good complement to Hibbert as a defender and rebounder. And a Varejao/Hansbrough frontcourt would get under the skin of every frontcourt in the league.

Ideally, we could keep all three, but I don't see it happening. But hey, if all you have to do to get Varejao is to give up Stephenson and Rush, then you do it and don't think twice.

Brandon Rush and Tyler Hansbrough for Anderson Varejao and Daniel Gibson?

Good for both teams? I am a bit leery giving up Hansbrough but I think I would probably do that trade.

I assume Cleveland sees AV's contract as an albatross given how they are paying for him as basically a niche player. That may be wrong.

I would prefer to trade Posey and our 2011 First for Varejao. It leaves us with some cap room left. Posey wouldn't mean anything to the Cavs and would probably get bought out for a solid discount.

    That or...

    Baron Davis
    Anderson Varejao

    for

    James Posey
    Lance Stephenson
    2011 First Rounder

I know Baron wouldn't be very popular at first. He is a significant upgrade in talent from Darren. Darren would then be our upgrade at backup PG and our fallback option if Baron goes AWOL. Davis only has two years left on his deal. Varejao would be 32 at the end of his deal, so we would still have several good years from him.

    PG - Davis, Collison, Price
    SG - George, Rush
    SF - Granger, Jones
    PF - Varejao, Hansborough, McRoberts
    C - Hibbert, Foster, Barac

If we get Baron i will quit watching the Pacers. I quit after Murphleavy and this might make me do it for good if we get baron. baron = bum as a player and as a proessional or lack there of.

Outside of maybe JJ Hickson there is nobody on the Cavs I want. This includes Anderson Varejao and his contract. I actually think he's kind of overpaid.

I think we are set at point with DC. He is still young and has played good in the playoffs. A summer to improve will make a difference. Back up point is an issue. AJ likes to loft up 3's and isnt much of a ball handler. I think lance could be really good with his size and ability to dunk when he gets to the rim. He should have had extended playing time the last few games after we clinched. Id like to see a Ben Gordon or JR Smith. A scoring big who is legit in the post, can step out and hit a shot and REBOUNDS! Other than that I think george will prove to be a star in the next couple years.

I'd trade Rush and our first for Varejao without blinking. He was second-team all defense last year and could play with Roy or Tyler.

I'd trade Brush and Lance in a heartbeat for AV. But that's as far as I'll go.
