Default Tommie Harris likely to Colts after lockout ends

Don't be surprised if Tommie Harris signs with the Colts once the lockout ends.
Has some injury problems and is known to take plays off, but is still a very talented player and only 27 years old.

As long as it's on a cheap contract, it's a low risk high reward move. Again, this is still speculation.

Either way, if this ends up being true, it seems that Polian has realized we need some GOOD veteran defensive help. Harris can be that, even though he reminds me of a lazy Bob Sanders.

Interesting nonetheless, and I hope it works out for him and the Colts if it turns out to be true.

He was a beast now he is just lazy and lost his job to Anothny Adams. drives me nuts because he was so good. Then just quit playing hard. Was one of my favorite Bears but i think it is time to move on. And a lazy Harris like last year is better than anything the Colts have by far at DT.

    Agreed.

In 2006 and 2007, Harris was an absolute beast for the Bears.

He's a low risk high reward.

If he gets injured, hopefully he's on a minimal contract so it won't make much of a difference.

And if he stays healthy, at the very least he's a solid rotational DT. I still think if the Colts have Antonio Johnson that Johnson and Fili Moala would start.

Either way, I think it'll be a nice signing for us with potential rewards.

A legit DT is something the Colts haven't had since Simon and really takes the defense to the next level. I'm excited.

    That's what I'm hoping for.

He really hasn't been good since 07, but if he can stay healthy, I think playing alongside Freeney and Mathis as well as being on a legit SB contender could change his tendency to take plays off.

Isn't Harris a 3 tech just like Moala? I'd take him sure, but they'd still need a big Booger McFarland monster to eat up blocks.

Yes, he is a 3 tech.

My question is could Moala take the role of eating blocks? When he was at USC basically all he did was swallow blocks for others to make plays. He was pretty good at it as well. I wonder if he can do that in the NFL.

Obviously that's on the assumption that Harris stays healthy, but a healthy Harris who also is playing with effort could be really good still for the Colts if Moala could just eat tackles.

A lot of "if's" but at least I have something to talk about now besides the selfish crybabies arguing.

I'm a huge Bears fan. Tommie Harris' knee is shot. He simply isn't physically capable of being a top flight tackle anymore. He could be average, but the days of being a pro bowler are gone, and it isn't because of attitude or needing to get healthy. He needs a new knee.
