ESPN’s Chris Mortensen mentions during the “On the Clock” pre-draft segment regarding the Titans that coach Mike Munchak almost persuaded Moore to return to coaching.

Instead, the Titans hired Chris Palmer, who previously was head coach of the UFL’s Hartford Colonials.

Moore served as a consultant with the Colts in 2010, with Clyde Christensen becoming only the second offensive coordinator with whom Peyton Manning has worked during his NFL career.

Prior to Super Bowl XLV, Manning praised Moore. “I’ll be indebted for the rest of my life for what he has done for my career,” Manning said. “I don’t know if there will ever be an assistant coach in the Hall of Fame, but if there is, Tom Moore has got to be the first one in.”

By not coming out of retirement, the clock toward the date of Moore’s first consideration will continue to tick
