Miguel Cairo gets in the game and is money again. Automatic. Pitching was very solid. This series vs Houston is important. The Reds need to establish dominance in the division.

This team is special. I see us winning 100 games this season.

Granted, it's only 3 games, but Stubbs is looking fabulous. Much more confident at the plate compared to last season.

Also, Jonny looks completely different at the plate. Last year he would get up there looking to kill the ball on the first pitch. He's being way more patient at the plate this year.

Alright, my guys will do our best to keep beating the Brewers down and extend your lead in the Central.

Reds look good this year. Will be happy to see you vs. Braves in the playoffs.

Reds welcome Astros in next division test

    Worth noting
... Houston went 5-10 against Cincinnati last year and 2-4 on the road at Great American Ball Park.

Man this team looks good. Deep starting rotation and good depth all over. Heisey looks excellent. If that guy is your fourth outfielder you are in great shape. I really like this team I'm going to have to catch a few more games in person this year.

Volquez needs to warm up more before the game or something. I'm tired of him getting shelled in the first inning. Luckily our offense is a machine right now and bailed him out.

Relentless Reds rally in rolling to 5-0 record

Only three previous Reds clubs have been 5-0 -- 1919, 1980 and 1990. With 43 runs scored, it's one shy of the 1976 club record of 44 runs through five games.

Rolen ties it up with 1 swing of the bat. He is hitting for a lot of RBI's, but has a terrible batting average.

Gonna say it now- Reds aren't getting nearly as far as they should without a better #1 starter. Cross our fingers that Seattle is out of it by midseason and we can get Felix Hernandez.

It will be interesting to see what happens at the deadline. Cincy has a young core group of pitchers (Leake, Wood, etc) do they keep them or make a deal for a difference maker? I don't know if they do. King Felix may sign for 30 million a year elsewhere.

Okay.. So I've never followed baseball. I want to be a Red's fan but I don't understand baseball that much. Can anyone open me up and tell me about this roster, how the league goes, etc.. I know it's a hassle but I just don't know how to get started.
Ok so your head is in the right place. Indiana sports fans, if they want to follow MLB are morally obligated to follow the Reds. Prior connections, similar atmosphere as Indy, etc.

The only time when it would be ok to root for a different team is if you live in Northwest Indiana it would certainly be ok if you were a Sox fan.

You will find that all true Indiana fans that follow baseball are Reds fans. Almost everyone of them. In other words, they didn't just decide to jump on a specific bandwagon for douchey reasons.

It is worth noting that the Reds consider Indianapolis baseball fans a part of their fanbase- The connection is there, so root accordingly if you want to watch baseball.

Also, just to be clear for future reference, people from Indiana that:

are Cubs fans, are giant d-bags.
are Red Sox fans, are traitors who are nothing more than Bendict Arnold's illegitimate offspring.
are Yankees fans, have no soul.

    Now you know!

While the Reds do consider Indy part of their fan base, I've seen bars downtown that support the Cubs, and I would have to say more people in Indy root for the Cubs than we think, as they used to root for the Bears before the Colts arrived.

If I had to guess Indy is probably split between Cubs/Reds.

That's because the menatility is that if you put on a Cubs shirt or hat, you instantly become someone who "roots for the underdog" and has been with the team for a "long time", which in normal circumstances is not true.

I believe the worst thing about a Cubs fan is that when you try to talk trash, they start saying things about the Reds, in which how long their playoff drought was, etc. To them, 1908 seems like 3 years ago or something.

I dont know that Janish should be considered a stop gap solution. He has busted his rear end, and many people in the orginization think very highly of him. Only time will tell, but I definitely would not hold that opinion on him at this point. His defense is off the charts.

As for this team going not going very far without a better #1...it is way too early to make that call. Not only that, but you have Cueto and Bailey close to coming back. If there is a pitching problem to be concerned with in the long term it is the closing role. Cordero has been fairly inconsistent.

They really don't have much of a right to talk about any kind of droughts.
