Default Colts themed restaurant planned to open in Downtown

An Indianapolis Colts theme restaurant is planned in Downtown Indianapolis in space being vacated by an off-track betting parlor.

Florida-based G.R.E.A.T. Grille Group hopes to open the nearly 10,000-square-foot restaurant in August at 110 W. Washington St.

It will be the first of several National Football League-themed restaurants the company plans to open in the next three years under licensing arrangements with NFL teams.

The $4 million restaurant will be built in space used since 1995 by the off-track betting parlor in the Claypool Courts/Embassy Suites complex. Owner Hoosier Park Racing and Casino is shrinking the OTB's space in a move to the former Vito's on Penn restaurant at 20 N. Pennsylvania St.

The OTB's move is slated to happen late fall or early winter, but the OTB has already vacated about 7,000 square feet of ground-floor space at its Washington Street site.

I thought that as well if they had opened it when we won the SB that would've actually worked out better.

If the Pacers had a restaurant would they serve Quentin Wilford's "Chicken Fingers"?

    This pisses me off.

Because in 5 years when Peyton is gone and the Colts are one of the worst teams in the NFL, people will lose a lot of interest in something like this.
In 49 states it's just basketball, but this is Indiana!

Yeah that was my issue with this a few years ago it would've been a great idea but with the economy the way it is and Manning's career nearing the end I don't know how it will survive in this fairweathered fanbase.

Actually, if it serves good food, has good service, has prices that are in line with its service and quality of food (and in line with the market), and offers a good atmosphere/entertainment then the Colt/NFL connection is secondary.

They can't expect the NFL/Colts' connection to be the only draw as something to attract repeat business.

I'd assume it will serve as kind of a Hard Rock Cafe style place with Colts memorabilia as well as general NFL memorabilia so even if the Colts are down it would still have the general draw of the NFL to garner attention. Plus it will have the history of the Colts and Manning's legacy to draw upon.

It sounds like a good idea to me... although I wonder how much that NFL licensing costs and if that will ultimately be a back-breaker for their expenses.
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.
