Default Chad Ford ESPN Chat. 3/9/11

    Eric (Western Mass)

Which of the non-playoff teams has the best chance of quickly rebuilding(or bouncing back) and why? Draft picks, Cap space, young talent, etc all play a roll.
    Chad Ford (1:29 PM)

The Nets should be much better next year. A full year with Deron Williams plus some additions this summer via free agency with their cap space should give them a big boost. Utah has a very solid team and two lottery picks to add to the roster this summer. Indiana has a very promising group of young players and a ton of cap space to spend (and they'll also make a run at a more established coach like Mike Brown). I'm also feeling a bit bullish on the Clippers. If they can get an upgrade at small forward and everyone stays healthy, could be a terrific year for them next season.
Thank God for Chad Ford or the Pacers would never get national mention.

    Dave (Fort Worth)

Who gets the last 4 spots (5-8) of the playoffs?

    Chad Ford (1:18 PM)

In the East I have the Hawks (5), Knicks (6), Sixers (7) and Pacers (8). The only team that isn't a lock is the Pacers at this point. I think the Sixers could end up as high as sixth. Charlotte and Milwaukee could catch the Pacers ... but neither team inspires much confidence.

Good catch just noticed that. Honestly I agree. Are we really a playoff team or just a potential warm-up round for the 1 seed?

You know a good SF addition for the Clippers? Danny Granger. You know a good SG/PF addition for us? EJ and Blake Griffin.

Trust me, I'd love to bring him here, with (or without) Blake and DJ. But with the young chemistry building in the Clippers, I'm pretty sure they're going to stay together to see if next season can be even better. Remember when OKC had all that talent and weren't doing well? Well, LAC is going to grow up and stay together. I can feel it.

    Sorry.

I actually have heard he would like to come home. But I dont see him taking less money and a 1 year deal to leave LA. So I doubt it happens but if he really wants to come home he can make it happen.

I wish there was a way to sucker the Clips into DG and Rush for Eric. I like DG and Rush a lot, but in a couple years a combo of EJ and George would be fun as hell to watch.

If Donald Sterling doesn't keep that young core together, then he needs to be voted off as owner of the Clippers. They can do that right, if an owner is determined to be unfit for the league and a majority of the other owners in the league want him gone?

Doubt it. They benefit from his dumb mistakes. He probably best friends with 29 other owners.

True, I still dont think you can kick an owner out for his dumb mistakes they hurt the league in the LA narket. Stern would have had him sell already if he was allowed but he owns the team. you cant force him to sell.

They can do it in baseball, which is why I wonder if they have the same basic infrastructure in the NBA.

Can you even imagine if Blake managed to tag along? I'd drop out of school, move back to Indiana, get a full-time factory job, and buy season tickets.

Get a new defensive pg who can make the 3. EJ would be the primary ball handler anyway that lineup would be sick.

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

Young guys are probably gonna work their asses off in the offseason. Especially Roy and putting on more pounds of muscle.
