Stern IMO is largely responsible for the success the NBA has had. He was the first to have an anti drug policy with drug testing. The NBA was the first to have a salary cap.

    If Stern retired right now he would go down in history as one of the top 2 or 3 all-time commisioners in any sport.
    And he is also responsible for the state the league is in right now. You can't take the good without the bad.
