Default Tyreke Evans out for Rookie Challenge

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/allsta...e=NBAHeadlines

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans will miss the Rookie Challenge at All-Star weekend with an injured left foot.

Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie announced Thursday that Evans had withdrawn from the game. He will be replaced by the Oklahoma City Thunder's James Harden on the sophomore team.

Evans missed the past two games because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He will meet with a doctor in Los Angeles next Monday for further evaluation.

It would make the all star break much more exciting if DC gets in!!

Blake should know to withdraw from the rookie/soph game since he's already in the actual game and dunk contest. He should give another guy a chance to be a part of all-star weekend. And hey, PG's gonna be in LA anyways...so a win win situation.

No Blake confirm he plans play. He has events every day over the weekend.

He should've been put on the Sophomore Team in the first place.

I'm confused on why anyone cares if the NBA considers him a rookie or not anyway. Really, who cares?

Regardless, if you're going to care ... he never played a single NBA game last year, why would he NOT be a rookie? Don't get any of it.

Collison deserved it more, but congratulations to James Harden for riding Durant's and Westbrook's coattails.

Now that I know Blake Griffin isn't a rookie, I want Stanko even more! If he comes to play for the Pacers next year, I'll know we're adding a 4 year NBA veteran to our front court!! That's awesome!

This message was brought to you by bad logic.

Just because you disagree with my take doesn't mean you have to be a dickhead about it.

It's not simply disagreeing. I like Dunleavy, someone else doesn't, that's disagreeing. This is bad logic. Antonio Davis was drafted by the Pacers in 1990. Didn't play until 1993. Was he not a rookie? Of course he was, and he was even playing somewhere developing. Blake took a step backwards with a major injury. He didn't even get to go and play anywhere professionally.

I'd understand the argument that Antonio Davis wasn't a rookie more so than Blake. It just makes zero sense logically. How can you be an NBA vet, without playing IN the NBA?

I guess I base it on the fact that Antonio went overseas during that lull. Not sure if he even went to training camp. Blake, however, went through the entire camp process, played in every preseason game, and stuck with the team even after his injury.

I guess that's why I don't consider him a rookie. While he didn't play any regular season games, he still played in every preseason game, and was able to spend an entire year in an NBA environment. He acclimated himself to what life in the NBA was like, even if he wasn't able to play.

So who had more experience, Blake or Antonio. Antonio did. And was still considered a rookie.

I just cant comprehend on how one doesn't believe he isn't a rookie even though he never played in a real NBA game. I don't care if he was with the team. Life in the NBA actually playing and life in the NBA rehabbing from an injury are two very different things. Plus being a rookie is about on court experience, something Blake didn't have until this year.

I don't think I'm getting my point across well (obviously). I'm not trying to say that he came into this season with a year of in-game experience. What I mean is that I don't consider him a rookie because I don't consider this to be his 1st season in the NBA. This is the first season he has been able to play, but it's his 2nd season as an NBA player. In my messed up little mind, I've always considered "rookie" with "first". So, in my mind, it's "Blake Griffin missed his entire rookie season because he hurt his knee in the last preseason game, and he's bounced back in his 2nd season to have a monster year."
