AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Fans are still not filling the seats at Conseco Fieldhouse, but more of them are tuning in at home to watch the Indiana Pacers.

The Pacers' ratings on Fox Sports Indiana are up 24 percent from the same time last season and up 40 percent from the final season rating, according to the Nielsen Media Research.

Tuesday's loss to the Miami Heat was the most-watched Pacers game since Jan. 28, 2007, against Detroit.

"It's been a very good year for the Pacers on Fox Sports Indiana," Pacers vice president of entertainment Jamie Berns said. "I think fans are really connecting with this team and are excited about the remainder of the season and the future."

The next step for the Pacers, who have a 7-3 record under interim coach Frank Vogel, is to get fans back to the fieldhouse.

The Pacers are averaging 13,599 fans a game, which is 28th in the league.

They have had five sellouts this season, including Tuesday's.

In four of those games, however, a significant portion of the crowd was cheering for the opposing team.
I'd like to see the attendance improve, but this is certainly a good sign.

the attendance is definitely going to improve by next season (15500 or so per game)

this team hasnt draw this much interest in a really long time

when the playoffs come we'll see sell outs and it'll be like the recent heat game

a few thousand bandwagon people and the majority there to see the pacers
In 49 states it's just basketball, but this is Indiana!

I think the increased viewership will lead to an increase in attendance. I seem to remember hearing that this happened before with another small market team. They get to sample the product for free on TV and see that the team has turned a corner before making the financial commitment to go to the game.

TV ratings always go up or down before attendance changes.

As others have suggested, it appears our friend Pete does have that Earlesque vibe.
You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

    Poopcorn, eh?

But seriously this is a great sign.. In school the first comment when the Pacers are mentioned isn't, "Screw the Pacers.. They suck and they just get arrested every weekend." It's more along the lines of, "I support them, but they need to get better fast. Danny Granger sucks. That Hibbert guy is pretty good though."

maybe we can be like the trail blazers and get sellouts every night

im fully expecting sellouts in the playoffs

we're going to have way more sellouts next season than we ever have in years

im predicting us to average 16000 or so next season or in 2 years and hopefully further into the future we're up in the east and advancing in the playoffs

    man oh man

hard to believe in 2008 we were nothing and now look at us gaining more the most interest since the miller days

Scot Pollard: do you work for the Pacers or have some sort of vested personal interest in the attendance of the team? You are always commenting on it and I was just curious.

no but im a manger in the marketing field

we deal with amounts of people and their interest in a certain product which is similar to the pacers and getting more people to their games

and i just hate sitting in a sea of green at the game like we're at a mad ants game

once the pacers are back to averaging attendances above 20th in the league then ill glady stop commenting on it and as it looks now its getting back there
