Default Kahn Believes 'Rebuilding' Phase Now Complete

David Kahn had an interesting comment to the Star Tribune's Jerry Zgoda on Thursday.

"There is no more rebuilding," said Kahn. "There are no more wholesale changes. I like a lot of players on the team."

Minnesota currently has a 13-43 record, which gives them the worst winning percentage in the Western Conference. They rank 24th in points scored per 100 possessions and 28th in points allowed per 1000 possessions.

is he seriously screwed up in the head?

you can say the rebuilding is over once you reach your goal and make the playoffs

if his goal is to get a player to be an all-star then hes dumb

kevin love is the only good player on that team

beasley and johnson arent bad and johnson has potential but it wont be enough to compete
In 49 states it's just basketball, but this is Indiana!

Kevin Love needs to request a trade already.

    A complete disaster maybe.

That roster is flawed, and rumors are Rubio will never play there. Going pretty awesome so far, eh? Yikes.

I still find it funny that of the 27 Point Guards he drafted last season, he traded away the best one.

As much as the individual moves Kahn has made are questionable, I actually kind of like that roster as a whole.

Love-Milicic -Beasley is a pretty good front court, and Rubio is a solid asset at the very least. Add another lottery pick and a coaching change and that could be a very good squad in the near future.

You can pick apart his language, but who knows what he means by "rebuilding is complete." At this point, anything he says will be the target of ridicule. But looking at the medium-long term, the Wolves aren't in a bad position.

Meh...The only one I like is Love. Rubio may never come and even if he does, he's played like total crap this year in Europe. Beasley, for all his early season production that made clipper4ever starry eyed, has returned to Earth. Darko is Darko. They are a long, long way away from being respectable in any way, shape, or form.

I'm probably the only person on this board that thinks his statement isn't too far off. Terrible record yes, but they have a lot of young players that have shown subtle but important growth.

I wouldn't be suprised if they finished the rest of the games above .500.

I will change my handle to "Kahn's Lover" if that happens.

What is there to like about that team besides Love? Flynn sucks. Wes Johnson is a lottery pick spot shooter. Brewer is meh. Darko is meh. Beasley is hit or miss. Their bench sucks. They are one Kevin Love injury away from being the Cavaliers of the Western Conference.

    They would be worse.

Winning 13 games after more than 50, you can't say you are done rebuilding. They only have one definite starter in Love. Everyone else on the team could easily be a bench player on other teams in the league.

Well, the second worst record in the NBA is good, right...?

How miserable it must be to be a Wolves fan when your rebuilding is "complete" and yet you're the 2nd worst team in the league.

    KAAAAAAAAAHHHHHNNNNNN!

How depressing it must be to be a fan of the Timberwolves. To see your team being one of the worst teams in the league and have your GM say the rebuilding phase is over just be a gut punch beyond belief.

Like Simmons said Kahn's best PG he drafted is not even on his team.

That is just harsh, Cleveland is much better than Minnesota without Love.

To be fair we don't know what Minnesota was rebuilding towards. Maybe they were rebuilding towards last in the west, and they're almost "done"? Maybe Kahn is just losing it because his arch nemisis Bird and the Pacers are much better than they are? Maybe he's been smokin' some of what Beasley's got?

Kahn would do well to consider this old adage:

"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one’s mouth and remove all doubt."

How in the world has Stern not noticed that it just makes "sense" to send Miami to the Western Conference and the Wolves to the East? Make it happen, David!

Any chance they are hanging a "Mission Accomplished" banner in the Target Center?

Now that the team's in place, maybe they can start the rebuild at the GM spot.

Kevin Love's head must have exploded when he read about this.

The laughable part is that Kahn probably believes the Rubio is actually going to play for his team someday, and he's probably banking on that too. All I can say is at least we aren't all Timberwolves fans....yeesh.

Right, now's the time when David Kahn can go out on his veranda, put his feet up, sip on a double malt scotch and just watch those titles roll in. His work is finished.
