Default An open letter to Jim O'brien

    Dear Jim,
Thanks for all the wins over the last four years.
Thanks for bringing the fast break jump shooting offense to Indiana.
Thanks for inventing the stretch 4.
Thanks for turning Mike Dunleavy into a real NBA starter.
Thanks for making Danny Granger a 3 point specialist.
Thanks for your tactful handling of the media and not being a coddler of fragile egos.
Thanks for helping James Posey become a power forward.
    Thanks for Tinsleying Tinsley.
Thanks for having the courage to keep playing Troy Murphy even though he had the worst +/- of any starter in the history of the NBA and also was the worst defender in the history of the NBA.
Thanks for sticking to your gameplan no matter how many people scream, boo, threaten, ridicule, browbeat, jump off buildings, develop high blood pressure, and even question your humanity.

Thanks, most of all, for not being here next year. You won't go down in history as the best coach ever, but you probably won't be remembered as the worst in 10 years either.

    Sincerely,
some guy on a message board.

Actually... by giving him 4 full years I think he will go down as one of the worst coaches in the NBA. Certainly one of the worst in Pacers history. Pull the plug after a couple of years and you could still having people arguing for some of the things he does and saying he just needed another year or two. But give him 4 years and all the warts are right there to see and the excuses just appear to be pathetic attempts at explaining the unexplainable.

There is no more defending him without taking credibility hits now.... IMHO...
O'Brien has been fired! Yay! What took so long?

I also want to say thanks to Jim for almost making hate the team and for making me question why do I follow them.

I also want to say thanks to Jim for giving Rasho a lot of minutes so we could see how great he was.

Thanks Jim for letting us see what a true player Earl Watson is.

For everything you have done thank you.

This seems like a good as place of any to relay JOB's "insights".

Seems like someone has been reading the board.

    1. You can mention someone is struggling without being cruel about it.
    2. Why do only certain players get critiqued?
    3. Why haven't you brought up your failings as a coach? I mean..if we're talking about people struggling...
