Default Not convinced that I like it, or that they would do it

    But how about this:

    Pacers out:
    Danny Granger
    Dahntay Jones

    Pacers in:
    Andre Iguodala
    Derrick Favors

    Nets out:
    Derrick Favors
    Their 1st Rounder
    Troy Murphy's expiring contract

    Nets in:
    Danny Granger

    Sixers out:
    Andre Iguodala

    Sixers in:
    Net's 1st Rounder
    Troy Murphy's expiring contract
    Dahntay Jones

    Our projected future lineup:

    Collison/Price
    Iguodala/Rush
    George/Our '11 pick?
    Favors/Hansbrough
    Hibbert/McRoberts or our '11 pick?

TBH, I don't want Igoudala if Granger isn't going to be with him. If we pick up Igoudala, we better really be pushing for contention within the next couple of years because of Iggy's contract.

Same goes for Favors.. If we're going to go full rebuild, I'd rather go all out and trade Danny for Favors and a first which would give us likely two top ten picks in this year's draft (possibility of picking up two overall very good players down the line).

Overall I just really don't want to force Igoudala into being the number one option. Trade for Iggy and keep Granger, or don't trade for Iggy at all.

I guess I'm coming to the conclusion Paul is a more natural 3 than a 2 (though I believe he can play the 2), so I like the idea of having AI around to let him be that 3, while Danny doesn't just get swapped with AI, but also gets us a talented young PF.

Do you think that Paul will be able to replace Danny as soon as next year? I guess that that would be the dealbreaker for this trade.

I think he'll be about as good as Danny in two years.

I don't know about next year, but possibly in two. Not to mean he couldn't be a contributor next year as the starter.

If we could get Iggy and Favors for Granger and keep our #1 I would be jumping for joy. I think a line-up like this would be tough in 2 years:

    Collison/Price/Mid tier PG pick-up
    Iggy/Rush/Stevenson
    George/2011 Pick/Free Agent Pick-up
    Favors/Hans/Rolle?
    Hibbert/McBob/Solo

I know Danny is the face of the franchise right now, but he may need a change of scenery, but it may be that new scenery be with a new coach here. This is our opportunity to sell high right now before he hits his downslope. We would be really really young, but oozing with raw talent.

So in two years Paul can be at an All-Star level? I don't think so. Although I am not as opposed to this deal as my comments may make it seem.
    Super Bowl XLI Champions
    2000 Eastern Conference Champions

I don't think anyone said Paul would be all-star level in two years, they said he'd be as good as Granger in two years. Granger is getting farther and farther removed from his all-star season. I don't consider him an all-star anymore.

I take this trade every day of the week if it's on the table. I don't think the Nets think Granger is worth Favors and a first though. I'd throw a future first (not this year's) their way to get it done. DC/Iggy/George/Favors/Hibbert is a very solid starting five going forward. Many question Favors, but I do not. He's 19 years old. Give him 2-3 years in the league and he'll know how to use his 6'10" 250 lb, athletic frame. His freshman numbers at Georgia Tech were similar to Blake Griffin's freshman season at Oklahoma. The only difference is that Griffin's freshman season occurred in '07-'08 and Favors' was '09-'10. He probably won't be quite as good as Griffin, but considering draft position, size, and athleticism - that's pretty much what people expect of him.

Favors doesn't move or play anything like Griffin. I think Favors will get better, but I do not think he'll ever see an All Star game. At any rate, he is a project, and should be a target for teams looking to blow up their roster, not add 1-2 stars to get them deep into the playoffs.
