Default Should McRoberts be the permanent starting C?

I thought Josh played well last night, and has been pretty good all season. He unfairly got his minutes taken away by JOB. With Roy's horrific play over the past month, should Josh be our featured center now? I am thinking for the remainder of this season. Hibbert's slump has been going on way too long, and I don't think he will turn it around until hopefully training camp next year.

McRoberts should be getting backup PF/C minutes but he shouldn't be our starting C unless Roy is unavailable. Foster could start in Roy's place but he's better off the bench for energy against the opposing team's 2nd unit since he can't play a ton of minutes. The rotation should be

    Hibbert/Foster/McRoberts
    Hansbrough/McRoberts
    Grown Man Ball

Is this serious? I thought he was the most awkward since puberty. He looked terrible.

With Roy, we at least know he can play like a top 10 center when his mind is right.

I'd like to see him as the back up Center and Solo not play anymore unless of foul trouble.

Roy's too important to what the future will or will not look like for this team. Roy needs to work through this, maybe he's not the stud he was in November, but he's also not the player he is showing now either.

I'm good with the rest of the season being Hansbrough/Roy backed up by Josh/Foster with some small ball sprinkled in.

Likely is Jmac goes back to not dressing and DNP CDs, shame really if Solo gets one minute over him, ever, imo. 1.) Solo won't be here next year. 2.) Josh is better.

Side note: I'd stick with that group and only play Posey when you have foul trouble or its a desperate situation where nothing is working.

I am being serious, Josh looked better than Roy has recently. For this season, Josh is a better option for us at Center, unless Roy can turn it around.

Keep in mind that it was 1 game and Golden State has absolutely ZERO size in the post, so it was easier for McRoberts to play decently against their "bigs". Throw McRoberts in at the C against Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum, Shaq, Ilgauskas, Horford, Lopez, or any number of other legit bigs in the NBA and he would get stepped on. Roy at least has the size to match up with a decent amount of those same guys.

I love the combination of Tyler & Josh but no, I wouldn't start him.

First big off of the bench and by that I mean when either Tyler or Roy goes out he comes in, not bring in Dunleavy and shift Danny to the four.

That's one of the most rediculous things I've ever heard on here. Like smokely said it was one game and they have no size. And everything else he said was spot on. For one thing Josh is not really a starting anything. I like him and all but he's just not! Also the only way to get out of a slump is how coaches tell their players, "keep playing" and " have a short-term memory" so it's jus a matter of time before we see the old hibbert but u don't replace him! I mean evrytime your computer gets a virus u jus don't get a new one. Especially if your computer is a 7'2 all star caliber mac. Lol

I think this has pretty much been answered. McRoberts deserves time, just not as the starting C.

I think I agree with what a few have said in here. Give Josh the Antonio Davis role, in that he is the first big off the bench, whether it's replacing Rik (Roy) or Dale (Tyler).

You people that think that Hibbert will become an elite player are dreaming. I just don't see it. If he does he has miles to go yet.

Elite, no. But he definitely could become the player that Smits was in his prime.

I think the bigger questions is do you start Foster at the 4, and let Hans/McRoberts play together off the bench?

There's no way you start Josh over Roy. None.

Man I would love to see that but right now he just has a long way to go. Smits developed a great touch on his shot and was money most of the time. I have no confidence in Hibbert from anywhere farther than 5 feet from the hoop as far as his shot.

Yep, I agree. Biedrins is a great example to look at. A few years ago, he looked to be a double/double guy with a great future ahead of him. I watched him the 1st half of last night's game do little and had 3 fouls, reminding me of Hibbert.

Josh needs to our back up Center.

    Roy/Josh/Player X
    Player X/Tyler/Josh

But it took Rik a good number of years to become "Rik Smits" if that makes sense.

See, and I think I'm the opposite of you in terms of confidence with Roy. I'm more confident that his high-post jump shot is going to go down than his post moves lately. I think Roy's problem lately is confidence. Shots just aren't falling for him. But they are makable shots and shots he can make.

I bet he can't wait for the All-Star Break. Just to take a mini-vacation, or to hit the gym.

Nope. However, he should be a consistent rotational player off the bench at the very least.

That would actually be a good idea..I think Foster would be good next to Roy..and I like Josh and Hans together.

While I said Foster earlier, I don't think he's out Player X, but I most definitely agree with this.

The Pacers need a better starting 4.

Right now? McRoberts should be the starting PF and the back-up C.

The PF/C group of Hibbert/McRoberts/Hansbrough should all be getting close to 30 minutes or so, depending on which pairings are having the most success.

The post position is a tricky position. Very few post players can dominate or even do well in the post by themselves, and for the most part since Hibbert's slump started that has been what he has been doing. Even Smits wasn't much until Dale was around. Hibbert isn't going to be a Howard or Duncan, but if we can get a Dale Davis next to him he will more than likely turn into a Smits, which I think most people would consider a borderline all-star.
