    Default Hicks' proposal for Kaman

    To IND:
    Kaman
    Clippers first
    rights to Minnesota's unprotected first

    To LAC:
    Granger

IMO hell of a trade for both teams. We get two very high picks as well as a starting center (which either makes Hibbert or Kaman expendable) for a player that will not be missed in a couple of years.

This is better than the Batum/Wes trade by a mile.

Dare I say the Clips are giving up too much? Two first-rounders (both likely in the top 10) AND a starting caliber center on a decent contract for Granger, who's having his worst season in a few years?

Don't get me wrong, I'd do it, but I doubt the Clippers are looking to give that much up.

That is what I am thinking in the back of my mind too. However, they are beginning to gel and Blake/Gordon/Granger/Bledsoe/Jordan is very good in theory. With Gordon and Blake getting significantly better every year you'd think they'd be wanting a guy like Danny.

Granger would be better for them than he is for us; he'd be like Luol Deng has become for Chicago. Great to have when he's not one of your best guys.

People in there don't believe the Pacers are willing to trade Danny.

I don't think we will either, but it's good to just look at options.

If we were to acquire Kaman, we would need to have a new coach to help Roy and Kaman adjust to each other because Roy would not be going anywhere.

Kaman only has one yr left so we could let him walk after next yr. Or trade him next yr. Kaman could start at center play 20 mins Roy could play 28 and learn a lot from Kaman. That might keep Kaman healthy and fresh

The Clips have had that Minny pick for years (from the Jaric/Cassell trade back in like 2000) but it still has one more year of top 10 protection. It finally becomes unprotected in 2012. So if that pick was essential to this proposed rebuilding plan, it'll be delayed another season before it's useful (unless the Wolves make it out of the bottom 10 somehow).

Also, the Clippers owe the Thunder a first from the Eric Bledsoe deal. That pick is top 10 protected 2012-2015, unprotected in 2016. If both the Clippers and Minny picks are outside of the top 10 in 2012, OKC gets the lesser of the two picks. So it appears the best you can hope for is the ability to switch picks with the Clips at some point.

If we acquired Kaman, he would immediately start ahead of Hibbert. There would be not debate. If healthy, he's about as valuable as Granger...so we would need to send them something more to get two first round picks.

I'm thinking this is possible if a third team who needs expiring contracts can get involved. It's going to be an interesting year...

Edit: Ok...based on atc's post, this is not happening.

LAC owes their own 2012 pick to OKC, not this year's 2011 pick. So it wouldn't be involved in the proposal. They have their own 2011 pick.

The unfortunate thing is that I think Larry is too stubborn to think about moving Danny or Roy for some golden pieces.

that is a shame. I think if he didnt accept the one offer last yr on draft day 3rd overall pick and Harris for Dg33 then he never will trade him( But i dont know if that rumor was legit)

I have my doubts and either way I think we can probably get better than that. This offer as well as some other recent ones are better.

LAC's 2012 is technically committed in another trade, I'm pretty sure that would prevent them from trading their 2011 pick outright (as that would fall under the can't trade consecutive firsts rule).

I'm a bit uncomfortable with this trade as it basically undercuts our two most talented players (Danny and Roy) for inconsistent (Kaman) or uncertain (picks) assets.

Not much is ever certain in the NBA. And are you honestly comfortable right now with where you think we'll go with Danny and Roy? I find them to be inconsistent and (especially with Roy) uncertain.

Danny and Roy were both 17th picks, by the way. These two picks are almost assuredly significantly higher than 17.
