Right, but I don't see 10 adverts for a bunch of unrelated products. Even though it is the official website for a WB movie, the writing on the site is so goofy and would be laughed at by any serious firm utilizing the web today. Maybe I just mean a simpler Internet.
Well, even the geocities pages that this site is sorta styled off of had those huge crappy banner ads. But yeah, I see what you mean. I get frustrated sometimes by how excessive some of the web 2.0 stuff is.

This is why all our superhackers would have been fired for their awesome sites. Most people would give up on the wait back in 95-96. I think the first nice 56K modems didn't hit till 97 even. Sites had to be simple and small or people wouldn't bother.
ISDN (64k or if you spend serious dosh, 128k) only came out in 1996, so the best most people would have had in those days is a 28k8 modem and msot still looking at 1200 baud modems (it was the IDSN 64k that forced compression on transfer rates in modems to up to 56k, competition)

but hey they can "bulid" websites at age 10 (1998) so i better not say to much here

There's actually a pretty neat quote or joke in a comment tag at the "top" of each page.

Why do you assume we would have built junky and inefficient sites? And how does the slow modem speed at the time excuse the overall shoddiness of the site? The thing's an eyesore, the organization sucks, and the copy is embarrassing. You and able act like it would've taken an act of sheer genius to build a better site, but in fact it would only take like a smidgen of professionalism.

We need to keep in mind that at the time having a website for a movie wasn't a big deal. The budget was probably tiny for the website. It wouldn't be acceptable anymore, but at the time I don't think websites were a big deal for movie makers.

I want to know how this damn thread turned into a pissing contest because I sure as Hell didn't start it. Basically all I said was a site with content like that wouldn't take me long to do, and I wasn't trying to compete with anyone.

    WTF?

You kinda did. Someone said they could do it in hours, you quoted them and said you could do it in minutes.

So what? It'll take just basic HTML. I wasn't trying to make it a contest, YOU posted that video which made it imply that I was trying to be like Kristen Wigg's character.

    NOT TRUE

Maybe this is incredibly hypocritical of me to say since I am literally typing this on my iPad on a wireless network in a small town in Puerto Rico, but I am slightly depressed that people are making fun of this and I do miss the days of the old, simple internet before it became really commercialized. I love the graphics and the campy language they use to describe the movie.
I miss the dial up modem noises. Ahh the good stuff youngin's will miss out on

Uhh.... in 1995, this would have have been a nice-looking website. You can't compare sites today to sites in 1995.
