Sadly, I think we are going to lose the entire season. I hope to everything sacred and holy in life that I am wrong.

I think the most likely scenerio: the season is a full 82 games and starts ontime.

You have to look at this at the deadlines, because that is when things get done.

The first deadline is July 1st. There is some pressure for things to get done by then. That heads off any bad press and it doesn't disupt anything. This is highly unlikely though

The second deadline is start of training camp - basically October 1st. No games will be missed the and PR damage will be very minimal.

The third deadline is November 1st - the start of the season. Obviously this is The Deadline. It might push the season back a week or two but all 82 games are played and the bad PR is short. No real damage is done. I think this is the most likely scenerio.

If no deal by the time the season is supposed to start - then we are entering a different stage of this. The owners will dig in their heels even deeper if they start to lose games in hopes of breaking the players. So I think the least likely scenerio is a settlement in mid November through the first of January. There will not be a deal during this time PR damage is done so the owners and players will dig in and try to get what they came for

The last deadline to save the season is late January - 1999 is a precedent so the owners and players know this is out there. players will give in a lot to save the season - the key is the owners will they stay firm and are they willing to lose an entire the season in order to get real concessions from the players. - it will hurt the players much more than the owners.

I optimistically think that it'll get figured out sometime during the preseason. I don't think these guys want to stay unpaid for too long.

Our arena, their arena, Rucker park, it just doesn't matter. We're bigger, longer, younger, faster, and hungrier.

I must say, I don't want to see another compressed season, at least to the extent of '99. The quality of basketball was pretty poor. Not saying I want the season gone, but that was an ugly year.

basically agree with this. since the NFL will also be on strike, the NBA will be protected some by those negotiations. human nature being what it is, the nov 1st date will come and go. but losing games will spur the negotiations to reach a settlement. so i picked december.
