You have to think Coughlin is gone if the Giants don't pull out a playoff berth next week. He won the Super Bowl there, which obviously counts for a lot of goodwill, but aside from that his tenure there has been mediocre.
05: 11-5, lost wild card round
06: 8-8, lost wild card round
07: 10-6, won Super Bowl
08: 12-4, lost divisional
09: started out 5-0 then crumbled to an 8-8 record and missed playoffs
10: 9-6 now, on the verge of missing the playoffs
When I look at his entire body of work there, I see one miracle Super Bowl run surrounded by a bunch of seasons of mediocrity and failed post season appearances. So far, 07 is the only year where he's actually won a playoff game there. And the NFC hasn't exactly been as stacked as the AFC these past 6 years.
I frankly don't think he deserves to keep his job if they crap the bed for a second straight year. Especially not if you have the chance to lure a Bill Cowher there. Sometimes you just need a coaching change and I think this is one of those instances.
It was cold as hell at the game in chicago but it was a great game. The defenses didnt show up. At least untill we needed a stop. Problly the best game ive been too. I got to sing "bear down" like 10 times lol.
