Inspectors on Tuesday determined that the Metrodome's snow-collapsed roof can't be repaired in time for the matchup.
Vikings vice president for public affairs Lester Bagley tells The Associated Press that the NFL will instead allow the game to be played at the roofless Gophers' football stadium.
University of Minnesota officials have begun clearing snow from the stadium in preparation. They say there are snow drifts throughout the facility that have to be removed by workers with shovels because plows could damage the field.
A weekend snowstorm dumped more than 17 inches in Minneapolis and caused the Metrodome's Teflon roof to collapse early Sunday.
