Purdue University 2010-2011 Basketball Thread - Page 21
Jaquan Lyle, a 2014 recruit from Evansville (I believe) recently had a campus visit. Apparently Barlow was his host. Not exactly sure how I feel about that.
Anyway, with the current offer to Ronnie Johnson, and continued pursuit of a number of 2012 guys I'm starting to feel like Kyle Molock may decommit. I have NO info that hints towards that, just a feeling I have.
Yeah I was wondering that about Kyle also, seems like a okay kid... hope Purdue doesn't pull his scholarship like the football team did to that kid from FLA... but yeah we have been lively in the 2012 recruiting.
PT. Last year there was all the talk about how much work he put in, but he still lost time to Carroll. Yeah, there'll certainly be more time to be had with JuJuan gone, but there'll be more competition with Hale and Lawson. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he transferred.
Bade is interesting... still wondering why he hasn't developed, I mean he was never the athletic type... but I man as far as positioning on rebounds, picks, and scoring down low he just seems to not have gotten the concepts or something, idk... I could see Anthony Johnson transferring next year depending on how much PT he gets, but you never know... I would really like to see how his game fits though seems like he has a bunch of upside.
Basil Smotherman resigned after two seasons as boys basketball coach at Heritage Christian. Smotherman, a longtime assistant at North Central, was 24-21 with the Eagles. His teams lost both seasons in the Class 2A sectional to Park Tudor.
"It was a family decision," Smotherman said. "It was something I felt like I needed to do. I do want to coach again."
Smotherman is the department chairman of the visual arts program at North Central, where he has been a teacher for 23 years.
His son, Purdue recruit Basil Smotherman Jr., led the Eagles with a 13.8 scoring average as a sophomore.
"He's a student at Heritage Christian and will finish out the school year there," Smotherman Sr. said of his son.
Before his hiring at Heritage Christian, Smotherman Sr. was an assistant for 19 years at North Central, the last 16 of those under current coach Doug Mitchell.
Heritage Christian athletic director Jeff Freeman said he "was not entirely expecting" Smotherman's resignation.
