    Default indiana license plates

i recieved an email yesterday afternoon from the dmv saying that i was due for a new license plate

i had no idea why and ive had this license plate ever since i got my license and my first car

i gave them a call yesterday and i asked about license plates

they told me the state of indiana is going to change the main license plate from "in god we trust" to the state seal

    to

i drive with the "in god we trust" plate and i selected that one when i first got my car it was either that one or the state seal

they are considering the "in god we trust" one to be a personalized plate like the sports ones

was anyone else aware of this?

speaking of the sports ones i asked about pacers indiana plates and they said they're looking into it

the pacers one is the one i want
In 49 states it's just basketball, but this is Indiana!

I thought the state seal plates were the normal ones...

Then again, I don't look at my license plate much. I do know that's the one I have, and the majority of the cars in Indiana seem to have the state seal one as well. Either that, or an Indiana truck plate.

I could very well be wrong though. I don't make too many observations of license plates when I drive.

The state seal is the normal plate. The IGWT plate is one of the "vanity" plates like many organizations have, but instead of it having an annual fee associated with it, it is free. The Lincoln Boyhood Home plates are also free.

i went to the dmv yesterday and told them i recieved an email saying i was due for a new license plate

they asked me if i wanted to continue with my current igwt plate (renewed) or get the indiana seal

i said i would prefer to have a pacers state plate

so then they said we have the indianapolis colts thinking its the same thing

i said no i would like to have an indiana pacers plate do have pacer ones?

she said they're coming soon the state wants to acknowledge both indiana professional teams

so to make a long story short i will now drive with a state seal plate hoping the pacer plates come soon

Unfortunately I was told by the Governor himself that if the Pacers were to have a vanity license plate they'd have to do it on behalf of the Pacers Foundation.

Only not-for-profit, government entities or educational institutions get vanity plates.

The money from the Colts plates goes to Indiana Stadium and Convention Building Authority (government entity).

Since no Pacers plate is going to be created in the near future, and I've already had a Colts plate, this is the plate I currently have and I probably won't change it for quite a few years, if at all.

the woman sounded like she had no idea what she was talking about

that sucks i really want a pacer plate

that would be cool if those who purchase a pacer state plate some of the money goes to community services at least it goes to a good cause and the other part can go to the government spending

im sure there enough prisoners to make different kinds of plates

ps dude you only need 1 more thanked post and you reach 1,000 good for you

Cool, thanks for pointing that out.

I'd love a Pacers plate. We've talked about that for years here on the board. I just feel it'll never happen due to the guidelines. I love my IMS HOF plate.

Couldn't there be a Pacers plate where the proceeds go to the foundation? Since that's how the Colts one is done?

    exactly

the state should recognize both teams

im sure once the pacers are an elite team again the state will invest in making pacer ones

theres enough people in indiana that would get a pacer one im sure

See, that is in the Pacers Sports and Entertainment's hands. It boils down to justifying how many they'd sell.

the city itself seems to be biased between the colts and pacers

it showed when they announced will pay for conseco fieldhouse and lucas oil stadium's opertations

the fans seem to lean more towards whoever is doing well based on what ive seen

the state and colts sports organization both decided to allow colts registered plates i think it mainly came down to the colts who wished to have that

so if the pacers were to have state plates im sure some of it would go towards government and the team because its a state license plate and another part would go to the organization because its the team

itll eventually come down to recognition and team success

Wait until the Pacers are popular again, then push for a license plate. That's when it'll have a chance.

The Government knew they could pass off the Colts plate because they knew it would sell.

If it has that magic little blue horseshoe or Peyton's head on it, whatever it is, it will sell.

    Problem solved, right?

This is why I got the IMS Hall of Fame Museum plate. I love IMS, it's not a publicly funded entity, and the Museum is what it is - a preservation of a part of this state's rich history.

    yeah

the fact that the pacers are starting to get recognized again here in indy will result in a pacers plate in the future

either the pacers or the state will push for it

but either way im happy the pacers are back and the talk of the city again

2006-2007. After the Super Bowl win and before the Stadium was finished.

with just 2 pro teams and support for both i wouldnt be surprised if either the pacers or the state decide to come out with pacers plates in the near future

i have a pacers magnet that i put on the state seal of my new plate that i just put on my car

i'd glady take the recognition the team is getting than get state plates

The funny thing is, I was told that if they would've had a Pacers plate it would've been out by now.

hmm....you know that might actually be good news

the pacers popularity here in indy is very high now so it probably is a good time to make them

maybe when the playoffs come they'll make them when the popularity is even higher believing the pacers are in

i appreciate all the info you've posted duke
    thanks

You're welcome, but again, they can only make one if the proceeds go towards the Pacers foundation. There is still an off-chance that the plate can't have the Pacers logo on it, because the team itself is a different entity within PS&E. - This is what I was told by an executive.

I asked in my message to the Governor why they haven't made one that could help offset some of the upkeep of CFH and they said that even if the Pacers were still in the "limelight", they wouldn't sell many of them.

it'll be interesting to see what happens in a few years when the pacers are successful each season and the colts suck once peyton retires

for the most the part it looks to me that the government doesnt favor one team over another but since the colts have been good and the pacers have sucked for a while now and theres been a loss of interest in the pacers between that time the government made those colts plates based on hoosier interest

so it should be interesting once the pacers are very good the interest in the team is incredibly high now and its hasnt been like this for years

Hmmm, I guess there's not much chance I'll have the option to buy Pacer plates since I live in Florida. (You know, where it's still warm this time of year.)
