I saw him at Warren. I just don't see why people think he will be a PF or grow to 6'10. There are plenty of guys his age that height that are done growing. I see him as a wing in college.
Go check out his AAU team he plays very different than he does at Warren. At Warren he kind of ball hogs and during AAU he doesnt.

    No not on Wade's level.
Harris could easily turn into a DWade type player.

In 2012 IU will have a solid senior core in Creek, Hulls, and Watford, veteran juniors in Oladipo and Sheehey, a top big man in Zeller, a stud PG in Ferrell, an athletic freak in Perea (rebounding, shot blocking will be where he excels), a defensive ace in Patterson (who can score as well) and possibly Hollowell and Harris, who are two excellent SG/SFs.

That will be FAR more talent than he ever had at Marquette.

There is no need to rehash the circumstances of his IU tenure with me. I am painfully aware of them. I have watched his coaching and don't think he is a great coach. With superior talent, I think he will be successful. Do I think he can take us to multiple Final Fours or win a National Championship? No, not really.
I do. If he lands Hollowell and Harris then LOOK OUT.

I don't know if IU will have ever had as much talent on a single roster in the program's vaunted history.

I didn't notice him ballhogging at Warren.

Dwyane Wade is one of the five best players on Earth. I love Harris as much as the next guy, but I really don't think he could ever be at that level.

Yes, it will be far more talent than he ever had at Marquette. I think that 2012-2013 team has Final Four potential if all goes according to plan. Crean needs to keep recruiting big men. We need depth up front. That was always the achilles heel of his Marquette teams and it looks like it is continuing.

    .
Come back to me when Harris commits and he isnt on Wades level. He may be close to Eric Gordons level but not Dwade

LOL @ Davis growing to 6'10" if a Doctor had said that might happen he'd be a top 10 recruit.

Jeremy Hollowell is a Hoosier. That's 3 Five Stars in one class. Has Purdue had that many this entire decade?

You know what else IU had more than Purdue in the past 10 years? Final Fours.

    This state is on lockdown.

    Isn't Hollowell a four star?

Obviously I love the pickup. With that much talent coming in, I'm semi-confident that even Crean can coach them to big things. That's five guys now giving Gary Harris the full court press to come to Bloomington too. Five fantastic recruiters in our corner. If we land Harris, holy lord that will be a historic class.

Hollowell is a five star according to Scout.com (he is ranked as the No. 23 player in the 2012 class).

I can't tell you how big of an advantage that is for IU.

Unlike those other schools recruiting Harris, he knows and is good friends with several of IU's recruits. Hollowell and him are quite close.

That's my point. The guy is already a high 4 star, if there was a legit source saying he might hit 6'10" he'd be an easy 5.

I'm not counting our chickens yet, obviously it's already a fantastic class. A class headlined by Yogi, Perea, and Hollowell (3 top 50s anyway you slice it, just toss out the stars) and supported by a Patterson (Top 100) and a Jurkin (Top 150 plus legt 7 footer) and we're already swinging for the fences. Gary is gravy at this point. If we get him it's ova.

The thing is...I absolutely love Ron Patterson too. That dude is tough and he is a tenacious defender. I can't tell you how ready I am for IU to be back. These last few years have killed me. Watching Butler make two deep tourney runs slays me. All these bandwagon fans here in Indy...two more years and this state will be red. I can't wait.

That he does. Now let's see what he can do with actual talent in a pressure cooker. Make no mistake--the excuses end when that 2012 class hits campus.

I haven't disagreed with that this entire thread have I? I'm just saying he has at least til spring 2013 to prove himself.

We aren't disagreeing here. I think he will get to that point as well. I am just a little more skeptical that he will actually prove himself to be a good coach.

Even without Harris that's very likely to be the #1 class. If they get Harris it will be #1 by about a thousand miles.

IMO it would be on par or better than the vaunted Felton/May/McCants or Wall/Bledsoe/Cousins classes of the past 10 years.

I'll wait to see what they do on campus before bestowing those kinds of honors on them. I do think that with or without Harris it is the #1 class and definitely the best class IU has seen in a long, long time.
