Thread: IND / TOR

    Default IND / TOR

This trade is more wishful thinking, but not completely ridiculous. I don't see why Toronto would do this right now as Reggie is their enforcer and is a huge part of their team, and Jack is a great back up for them. However, Reggie has an expiring contract this year, and Jack is owed a relatively large amount of money for a backup for a few more years.

Indiana ends up owing about 2million more per year until 2012/2013 by swapping DJones for JJ, but immediately gets about 3million back with the TJ/Reggie swap. Even if you think JJ is overpayed, at least he would play unlike DJones who is a very overpayed cheerleader at this point.

Other thoughts about Reggie, he is 30 and undersized at 6-8, but he is a freakin beast on the boards. I'd love to have him as our big man enforcer in a Dale Davis or Ben Wallace role. If anything, I wouldn't mind us signing him next year to a DJones type of deal.

More other thoughts, Jim probably would play Reggie about as much as he play Dahtay, which is not at all. So maybe this move makes more sense if we know we are having a different coach who actually wants to play an enforcer type of big man instead of a 3pt shooter. And on that note, mabye DJones would fill a valuable role on the team with another coach.

I don't think either team gains an advantage, so they wouldn't bother. Plus, Jack is way taller than that!

    good catch

I think the Pacers gain a huge advantage with the trade, Toronto saves some money. But yea, not enough other reasons for Toronto to do it.
