Default The dream scenario to make the Pacers relevant again

Just imagine it... Pacers get an 8 seed and face the Miami Heat. Pacers WIN the series. That'd be the most press they would ever get. So... Lets get that 8 seed!

Even if the Pacers win a single game that would get them a lot of press.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

I'd prefer the 7th or 6th seed. we have no chance against the heat THIS year. It'll be tough to make it to the playoffs though, so it's just wishful thinking.

If they got the 8th seed and faced the Heat and won 2 games in that series, they would be the hottest topic going in to 2011 for sure.

Win, lose or swept.... It would be good for the health of the Franchise's bottom Line.

I think we're at least gonna have an increase in attandance. It gradually goes up every year.

I think we'll make the playoffs this year. A lot of it is wishful thinking, but I'll stay positive.

We're gonna be better than last year.

Just the revenue alone from a playoff series against THE HEAT!! would be a huge benefit to the franchise.

I think the Pacers ought to focus on their schedule. right now they ought to focus on the first game. I think they ought to play one game at a time . . . and even one possession at a time . . . all the way from now until April. I think they ought to win as many games as they can.
And I won't be here to see the day
It all dries up and blows away
I'd hang around just to see
But they never had much use for me

No, the hottest topic of 011 will be the lockout. That will put a damper on all teams having a great run towards the end for the 011-012 season.

miami couldn't hang with our duo of mcroberts and hibbert. and then we've got lock down defenders like rush and george who will completely take wade and james off their games. i don't see why the pacers wouldn't be favored in that matchup.

Honestly I think it might be an interesting matchup. They are thin on quality bigs and I just don't know if they have a player with the size to matchup with Hibbert... I think he would create big problems for them.

They would still win obviously, but I think we have the capability to make it a more interesting series than one might think.

    who says i'm kidding?

in all honestly, there's a reason teams without quality bigs rarely win the title. miami will struggle to defeat teams like the lakers, celtics, and magic having to rely on jumpers to win the series. get yourself some good defensive bigs and zone it up all day against the heat.

I agree with this. I think we match up as well as an 8 seed could hope to match up with a 1 seed.

I agree that the Pacers could certainly cause the Heat some problems in the paint, especially if we are able to trade for a quality PF sometime during the season.

But the Pacers would still not be favored. After all, they have two perimeter defenders (Wade, James) capable of causing a lot more problems for our perimeter players than we would be able to cause for them.

The only thing the Pacers could hope for would be to get at least one of Wade or James into foul trouble... and that isn't going to happen every game in a series.

The Pacers winning one game would probably be considered a surprise; the Pacers winning two games would seriously draw some attention.

yes, i was kidding..... with just hibbert, we wouldn't fair too well at all imo in the paint vs miami. as good a passer as hibbert is, he's shown in this preseason that he still struggles to make quick decisions with the ball imo while pressured. even then, we'd have to rely on our perimeter players hitting contested jumpers regularly against, as you said, wade and lebron. only hope for the pacers against miami would be collison turning into zeke on offense.

Well I think George and Rush are about the best guys to match up against LeBron and DWade defensively, even better than Kobe and Ron Artest.

I do think that Hibbert would own Joel Anthony or Chris Bosh on offense, but help defense would aggravate the crap out of Hibbert: DWade and LeBron.

Plus Danny would really have to work hard on defense and we aren't going to beat the Heat especially if Mike is playing 30+ minutes.

I'd say we have the best chance of beating the Heat out of all teams 7-15 in the East. Which is still only about 2%

Honestly I would be more surprised if the Heat are the number one seed than if they were the number 3 seed. In my opinion it is far more likely that the Magic or Celtics end up with the number 1 seed.
