Austin Collie to miss several weeks after having surgery on his hand

    http://www.indystar.com/article/2010...t|IndyStar.com

The Indianapolis Colts’ offense has been dealt yet another setback.Austin Collie, the team’s second-leading receiver, will miss at least the next several games, and likely more, after requiring surgery on one of his hands, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

“How quickly he returns is up to Mother Nature,’’ the source said, “but he should be back at some point.’’

Collie is second on the team with 44 receptions and 503 yards, and first with six touchdown catches.

He’s the latest offensive mainstay likely to miss time.

Pro Bowl tight end Dallas Clark is out indefinitely with a hand/wrist injury sustained during last Sunday’s victory at Washington. Leading rusher Joseph Addai’s status for the Nov. 1 game with the Houston Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium is uncertain after he suffered nerve damage in his left shoulder in the same game.

If there was ever a time for Gonzo to stay healthy for more than two consecutive games, this is it.

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

What does this bring our total of injured starters to? Last I counted there were 6 defensive players inactive and/or on IR and the offensive guys are falling a part too.

The Colts may be doomed for mediocrity this season.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

Gonzo better come back strong along with Brown. Jacob Tamme is suppose to step in for Clark. We will probalby see a lot more of Blair White.

The next 4 games after the bye will tell a lot: Houston, Philly, Cincy, and at New England.

When you are a perennial contender and have the best QB in the NFL (matter of opinion) then yes you are expected to win more than one SB and not be one and done like we have so many times. I know high expectations aren't welcomed around here but when you win a bunch of regular season games and don't make a huge impact in the postseason you won't be remembered that highly in history.

    It is what it is

Look at the Chargers all that talent and nothing they're worse than us in postseason ineptitude.

    Cowboys? Same

Well you enjoy wallowing in your ridiculous expectations and miss enjoying one of the NFL's greatest players in history do his job week in and week out. I for one, won't take it for granted and whine about something that happens to every team.

Especially when talking about a sport that after the bye, you're one of only FOUR teams vying for a spot in the Super Bowl from the AFC. When your first game in the playoffs is against a top 4 team in your conference while playing an "anything can happen" one game series ..... it's pretty obvious this will happen.

Some people are just overzealous in finding something to be upset about.

Injuries keep piling up....this is getting bad. You can only do the "next man up" stuff for so long. I will still keep believing in blue. One game at a time.
And the walls came tumbling down.....

You must really hate sports. Every year, people get hurt. Especially in football. If injuries get old, I'd suggest being a fan of maybe .... Shuffleboard? Pinball? Professional Monopoly?

Perhaps it was just 2 weeks (bye and Texans) because from what I've heard he has practiced the last 2 days as a full participant.

Yeah, Gonzo's completely worthless. I hope we cut him. Sucks for him that he gets injured so much, but we don't have room on the roster for a 3rd/4th string WR that misses 14 games a year.

Rarely do the Colts cut someone (see: Sanders, Bob). It would be too much of a blow to Polian's ego to get rid of a guy that he drafted so high. Gonzo is still on his rookie contract, so his cap hit isn't all that bad. And the only reason Sanders is still around is that he also is a 'small' cap hit this season. His number goes quite high next year though. If there is a season next year, Bob won't be here.

Back to Gonzo and the injury-bug .............. happens every year to some team. It's just the Colts time this year. But, so far, the next-man-up thing has worked well enough. White has done a great job, Tamme did a great job last week, James even did well in his limited chances. And all that can do is give them a nice ego-boost and it's gotta put a bit of confidence in Manning to go to them when needed.
