I really, really want to believe 41-41, but I'm not 100% convinced.

    So I'll say 36-46.
Right now it feels like I went too high, but it'll probably be like last year and we'll have some meaningless surge to race back to 9th place.

I predicted 38 wins, so if the Pacers could win this game I'll have hit my guesstamation.

We fell short of my 51-31 prediction...but, we did play exactly 82 games, so I nailed that.

Fun to read these old posts. Check out post #94. Man, the bench bailed us out a few times in a big way!

This by Slick Pinkham seems like a pretty good beginning of the season assessment.

    32 wins last year.

Healthier Granger, +3 wins due to better ability to drive and better lift on shot.

More offense and rebounding from Hibbert, +3 wins.

McRoberts / Hansbrough combo, not Murphy, 0 change overall due to inexperience against the better forwards in the league, negating advantages the rest of the way.

More Collison, less Ford, +2 wins due to extra scoring from the point once Collison finally adjusts to the system with less PnR and also figures out where other players like to receive the ball, reducing turnovers.

If Price plays significant minutes at the point (unlikely) could mean +2, but I am saying 0 change.

New guy adjustments, as usual, coupled with learning PnR before possibly abandoning it, -2 wins.

Less Rush, less defense, but more scoring potential from George in spot minutes overall, but only in second half of season when he gets fully adjusted, -1 win.

More Dunleavy, but only effective for first half of season, 0 change.

Remainder of current roster = irrelevant for this discussion, 0 change.

    So, 32 + 3 + 3 + 0 + 2 + 0 - 2 - 1 + 0 + 0 = 37 wins, missed playoffs, 13th pick that should be added as sweetner in TJ Ford deal at the deadline for a young pf / center who can set picks for Collison and Price in PnR for the future.
Got the wins right, but for the wrong reasons.

Hibbert didn't contribute as much as I expected.

The Animal Crackers made a bigger positive difference than I expected.

O'B hurt the team even more than I expected but Vogel mostly made up for that due to changing the style of play coupled with the honeymoon period early.

And, most importantly, despite only 37 wins, the Pacers made the Playoffs and I am happy to have been wrong about that!

Hey man I had 27 wins on my prediction too, but nothing to be embarrassed about. We might have won this thing if Jim hadn't been fired!

I had 37 in Peck's thread. But I had us missing the playoffs and Cousins winning the ROY. So...

Never bet on the crazy one. He could've though, if he had his head in place.

This is interesting to look at now as well.

Fpr the record Vogel went 20-18 and that is a 43 win pace. I would mention strength of schedule but I guess we aren't allowed. j/k

This thread was started two weeks after Vogel took over

To many Vogel is a ten win difference coach than JOB. I would venture to say 3-5. One said 25 to start the year. And if Vogel started the year they said 45. 20 games? In a players league?

I basically called 36 after the skid if Vogel started at season's start. So I think 42 is expected next year if we have the same roster and coach.

Assuming we stay healthy, I'm projecting a minimum of 46 wins.

Yes, the East is stronger, but it's top heavy. I really think we have a chance at being the second best team in the Central (next to Chicago).

I see Collison and Hibbert stepping up big time. I wouldn't be surprised if DC calls out some of the veterans if they don't step up defensively (DG).

Rush continues to develop, PG comes in not too bad as a rookie, we don't miss Murphy as McBob and Hans are a "serviceable" rotation at PF and Dun returns to 2 years ago form. Price will continue to be outstanding in the 2nd squad.

I want to put a range of up to 53 wins.

So, put me down for 46.
    Minimum 46 wins?

    What was I drinking?

It appears you were almost perfect. I don't know what pace the Pacers were on with JOB, but I think it was close to 30.

What the crap? 0-82 guesses? A logical and a heartfelt guess? Come on people, pick a real number and stick to it. The thread is only fun to pull up at the end of the year if people give real guesses.

31-51 is my guess. I think we are really going to struggle, but of course we will be juuust good enough to avoid a high lottery pick. I think we are going to miss Murphy a little more than people around here realize. I think Danny is going to miss a healthy chunk of games as per his usual. I think Collison will start out slow, but will come on strong around game 20 or so and start being who we hoped he would be. I don't think Obie coaches the team next season. I think Paul George will go through a lot of ups and downs. I think Hibbert will have a breakout year. I think our love affair with Josh McRoberts will shift to Tyler Hansbrough before the All-Star break.
    Good call, asshat.

Wrong on Murphy (extremely wrong). Wrong on Granger. Kinda wrong about DC, he struggled longer than I thought he would. Kinda right on Obie I guess, although any moron could have called that one. The Hansbrough thing was pretty good.

    And P4Ever nailed it.

JOB was on pace for 32 wins, P4Ever said 30...unless he was fired and then maybe 37.

    Nice work.

I said 33 but then I had no hope of JOB being fired this season.

Brad - I think you were most wrong on the Granger part to be honest, the rest wasn't too shabby. Granger's issues with driving for the score consistantly and his overall poor shooting in large stretches probably cost them a few games. I don't think he ended up being the +3 you thought.

Roy was a +3 for a few months, fell apart under JOB to a -2, then maybe half recovered back to a sum benefit of 0 extra wins. Disappointing last few months from him, I was really hoping to see that development click into something.

I do hope he returns to the training this year because I think that gave him a boost to start the year last time.
