    Default Family Movie Recommendations

So I'm having a pretty hard time finding movies where there is no sex/nudity and it is not some cartoon/animation...

do they no longer make movies like this or what? The movies can be about various topics - political/law/family/comedy/adventure/kids/etc just lacking the sex/nudity - anyone have any idea where i can find something decent that came out within the last 2 years?

Not sure if you are looking for a DVD or a current movie.

I've heard that Secretariat is a very good family movie. I have not seen it myself though

The Blind Side is PG-13, but I would have no trouble letting my 11 or 12 year old nephews see it. I don't remember why it received a PG13 rating, there must have been a few bad words - the over all theme is I think is very kid friendly. I will tend to allow a few bad words if the moral of the film is good for kids. (Overall though i didn't like the movie, but it was OK).

how about the Chronicles of Narnia

You can always count on dog movies.

    Hachi, a dogs's tale.

Any of the Night at the Museum movies are pretty harmless as well.

The two year release kind of limits things. If you've never seen the movie Akeelah and the Bee released about 4 years ago it is absolutely one of the best family movies that will keep an adults attention as well.
You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

Off the top of my head my guess would be the few scenes where he was in his old neighborhood and everyone was drinking and doing drugs. There was a bit of fighting and violence in one of those scenes as well. But you're right, it's nothing you couldn't talk your kids through if they asked questions about it.

I really liked that movie also - I think most kids would like it also. maybe from ages 10 or so on up. Not that there is anything inappropriate for younger kids, but I think younger than 9 or so might just be bored

    I really liked "UP!".

Don't make fun, "Because of Winn-Dixie" is one of my favorite movies as well. I read the book to some kids during high school and it was a great story.

I know you said "came out in the last few years", but The Princess Bride would be very high on my list of movies the whole family can enjoy.

Race to Witch Mountain was surprisingly entertaining and suitable for kids.
