Default Popcorn recipes: Give me your best shot

We eat a lot of popcorn. We've gotten tired of buying it for $1.50 a pound, though, and yesterday we purchased 50 pounds of bulk popcorn for $15.

So... what are your favorite popcorn recipes? I'll post some of ours in a bit, but our two favorite right now are cajun parmesan (my favorite) and curry (my wife's favorite). Whaddya like? How do you make it?
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

Truffle oil and a grated dry cheese. Try fresh parmesan or a dry english cheddar. The essential ingredient is the truffle oil. After that you can play around.

Another one: sea salt and grated dark chocolate.

Chicago style. Cheese mixed with Caramel. Sounded weird, but I'm absolutely hooked. I cheat and buy caramel because I've tried to make it a hundred times and failed miserably on 98 of them. Homemade cheese corn is so easy. Pop your popcorn, toss in melted butter, throw in a dry cheese packet from a mac n cheese box (Or LA's dry english cheddar from above), toss again, done. But if you have a go to caramel recipe I'm sure it would be great.

And BTW, the range of topics that appear on PD still amazes me from time to time.

Also we used to toss it in butter and Cavender's brand Greek Seasoning. So good.

Beware of one thing: my popcorn recipes are usually extremely messy.

Next up: clarified butter and shredded crab meat.

I can't do exotic, rather I stick with the tried and true prepacks like Megapop or Snappy Pop. Coconut oil, Flavacol, and popcorn all combined in the small packets. Tastes just like the best theater popcorn.

I need to know where you get 50 pounds of popcorn. I go through it like well, popcorn. I always buy from the farmer's market where it's grown locally, but I'll trade that for bulk.

I use my air popper and just eat it plain.

Sams Club or Costco usually carrry the big bags.

I don't really have any recipes, but we used to buy this certain cheese sauce that we poured on it and it was delicious.

If I can find the name of it, I'll post it in here.

Well, I take a different approach. I've got a retro concession-stand style popper (from Waring Pro), and we buy the premixed movie-style kits in bulk from SkyMall.

High in salt. Lots of butter. The way its meant to be.

    Not cheap, but worth it.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

Duke do your Grandparents still live out in New Ross? If so they can drive up to the Weaver Popcorn farm outside of New Richmond and they can get popcorn by the garbage sacks full for almost nothing.

In fact if you go in there after they have run a test on a batch of popcorn youcan get (I'm not kidding about this) a 100 gallon bag of popcorn (pre-popped and seasoned) for free.

They put my grandmother in a nursing home back after the new year began. I really don't have any connections up north anymore.

However, that does sound great. I go through a TON of popcorn at my house. It's the perfect snack. I'll have to go up there and try that out.

You have to listen till the popping sounds start being 2-3 seconds apart. It's super easy and delicious!

I like all kinds of recipes, some from this thread I will have to try, but the one I'm primarily going with lately is: salt/sea salt (what ever you prefer), ground red pepper from the Asian market, and garlic powder.

*note: add shredded cheese in different layers for supreme snacking.

Seems the only smart way to go.

No reason to fix what's not broken.
