Default DRAFT SCHEDULE and IKL 2010 Post-Expansion draft rosters

The expansion draft is over and Trader Joe and Mourning now have teams!

Now that the expansion draft is over, we'll need you to re-submit a 9-player protected list for our regular draft. We'll need everyone to submit a 9-player protected list, even our new expansion teams. three teams are already down to nine, but we still have a week to make trades, so even those teams need to contact me with their list to stay on the safe side.

Please submit a protected list to me no later than Midnight Eastern Time, Friday October 8, 2010.

I'm aiming for the following weekend (weekend of October 15) for our draft but I'm willing to hear suggestions.

Our regular draft will happen in a thread in this forum. Once that's done, all the rosters will be loaded up onto Sports.ws and the schedule will be set.

For those that are new to Keep Leagues, this will not work like the expansion draft. This protected list is more like a release. You are keeping 9 players and cutting the rest. In order to get one of your cut players back, you'll need to spend one of your picks on him (provided nobody else has taken him by then, of course) or you'll need to wait until the draft is over and get him as a drop/add.

Here are your rosters as we go in to the full league draft:

Are we doing the thing where you can keep your tenth player if you give up your first rounder, 11th for your second rounder etc. etc?

So we can draft both rookies and players that aren't protected in this upcoming draft?

I know that rule was put in place in the ABAKL. Did the IKL vote that rule in also, or is it just assumed?

    Does anyone remember?

I think that rule has been used at least once in this league, as I'm familiar with it and am a complete n00b to the ABAKL.

If it's been used in this league, then it's in effect.

For those not familiar with the rule, it states that you can sacrifice your first draft pick in order to protect a tenth man. Protecting your 11th man will cost you your second rounder and protecting your 12 man will sacrifice your final pick. Also, it must be your original draft pick to do this. If you've traded away your original pick, you are not eligible to do this.

So anyone interested in the fourth pick?

I'd be interested in moving down to the 8-12 range + a rotational player.

I've received a suggestion that we do a "soft" draft - in other words, a draft run similar to the expansion draft. that means we start as soon as all of the protected lists are submitted (allowing us to start early) and once the draft begins, we have a 24 hour draft clock. (That means that if it's been more than 24 hours since someone has picked, the person causing the delay gets skipped until they return).

Since the draft will not be such a rush and easier to track, I'll also consider leaving trading open throughout the process.

    What do you guys think?
