If Kwame Brown was 7'4," He'd be Peter Ramos. Good lord, the guy is at least 7 inches taller than anybody else out there, and he's fading away in the post.

I'm watching with FIBA TV. I suppose it's not worth it if you're only interested in this tournament, especially if there are free alternatives, but for a fee of 30 one gets to see every FIBA tournament during one year.
Correction: FIBA TV doesn't have the rights to US-area broadcasts. It's ESPN3.com here, or nothing.

Timofey Mozgov is a really big dude, a legit 7-footer, and Ramos just dwarfs him. It's like watching Mark Eaton stand next to Patrick Ewing.

It's amusing watching Russia's inept guards try to out-suck Puerto Rico's inept frontcourt. Both teams clearly know the other's weakness.

Not sure why Carmelo Lee is starting for them over Balkman, who is a much better match for Russia's forwards.

Yeesh. Russia leads 14-8 after one quarter.

Sergey Monya is showing why people once mistook him for a legit NBA talent. He's killing PR's small forwards.

Other than that, every effectively player has been taken out of this game defensively. I think Arroyo's touched the ball twice. Barea shouldn't be monopolizing the ball like this.

Carlos Arroyo always looks so good for Puerto Rico, even against very good defenders.

Barea's probably a better athlete at this point, but the rest of the team clearly follows Arroyo's lead.

Team USA's starting 5 to open the WBC:

    C: Odom
    PF: Durant
    SF: Igoudala
    SG: Billups
    PG: Rose

Don't think Croatia saw this lineup coming. They look totally surprised coach K went this small.

So far, I like the energy this group plays with.

I like Odom at center. Maybe it's just against this Croatia team but I like what he's doing out there a lot.

Croatia with some incredible shot-making early. Aside form the silly offensive rebound, they're just making tough shots right now.

Interesting line-up by US against zone. Like that little play they're running where they set a pick against the top guy in the zone to open up the shooter. Looks like K prepared them a bit.

Like this Tomic kid for Croatia. 7'2", pretty good agility and skill.

Don't like the random subs. Westbrook and Gay don't look like they know what theyre doing out there.

Chandler just isn't suited for this type of game.

Mid-range, yes, but they're cold from outside. They missed a few wide open threes. And those put-backs are killing us, but honestly, we knew that would be a problem heading into this tourney.

CHandler pretty much stands there with his hands up and does nothing, on both ends.

Tomic is an incredibly skilled player. One of the best young players in Europe, but he stagnated in the last 3 years. He joined Real Madrid in the middle of last season and playing under Messina for those months helped him quite a bit. I'm expecting him to progress even more next season. He just needs to add some muscle to his frame, he's still too frail and too much of a finesse player. Physical players throw him out his game quite easily.

This US team is too soft, they give up lots of rebounds.

USA quite honestly is lucky Croatia didn't take better advantage of their stupidity.

They were doing just fine until Krzyzewski yanked the starters too soon and threw in a new sub every 15 seconds. How about some damn continuity?

Unless Kevin Love is hurt, there's no reason he shouldn't be playing over Chandler, especially if K wants to go with a small rotation.

Fran brings up that the only time the Dream Team ever trailed was to Croatia, at the end of 1st quarter - 26 to 25.

Kevin Durant should lead this tournament in scoring. If he isn't, coach K isn't doing his job.

That isn't true. It was just the latest they ever trailed in a game. They didn't even have quarters back then. I'm fairly sure it was 20-minute halves.

Durant and Rose are emerging as the 1A and 1B of this basketball team. Thank your lucky stars K, and let everybody else play of of them.

Igudala might be the worst player on this team.
