In 2004 in Athens, the world awakened a sleeping giant.

I hope we won't be going back to sleep any time soon.

It was just staggering how much better Kevin Durant was than any other player was in this entire tournament. This was a 24 team tournament with pretty much all professional players and a 21 year old Durant was the superstar. It was like he made everyone else look like ordinary players.

Now it gets really interesting. Who will the 2012 Olympic roster consist of? I mean...Durant has to start on that squad, right? Can you start Durant and LeBron? Does Kobe play? He might be getting a little old for that extra wear and tear. Which guards will be on the team? Will John Wall be good enough to challenge Rose or Westbrook for a spot? Eric Gordon was really key for the US during this run, what are his chances of making the Olympic team?

Great win for us in this tournament. A lot of people downplay the World Championships in the US and kind of wrote this team off. I love that they went out there and won this thing, and won it the way they did. As if we all didn't know this before, Kevin Durant is one of the three best players alive now.

Rose has a lot of work to do to be asked back. Williams, Paul, Westbrook and Wall are your top 4 PG choices in 2012.

I agree with you on most of that. I just personally want to see Wall perform in the Association before I can consider him a favorite. With his skill-set he more than likely will earn that chance to make the 2012 team, but at this time I still would pick Rose over Wall.

Just a note for those who may have questioned Jerry Colangelo's tactics since taking over as "GM" of Team USA.

The USA Senior Men's Basketball team has an overall record of 46-1 since Jerry took over in 2005. Yes, that's 46-1 after the US had supposedly lost it's basketball dominance.

Wall and Rose play similar games. I'd say he's significantly behind those other 3 PGs right now.
