Default Granger's finger is just fine!

Just read some of these tweets from Jared Wade (@BothTeamsPlayed) and it appears that Danny's finger isn't giving him too much trouble.

    http://twitter.com/BothTeamsPlayed/status/21172157882

I'm just getting here but Granger dropped 10 in the first quarter on 4/4 shooting. Finger's fine looks like.

    http://twitter.com/BothTeamsPlayed/status/21172699147

Granger has another trey, a layup and 2 blocks in the past 4 mins, although he did miss his first shot. Earning a spot?

All is well in Pacerland these days (for once).

    And this tweet from Draftexpress.com:

USA obliterating China here in 3rd quarter. Up 25-2 at one point. Danny Granger looks amazing, scoring in every way possible. Has 20 points.

Thanks for the head's up, dude! That's good news for Danny and for us.

For those interested, Team USA plays an exhibition game against France tomorrow at 1 p.m. In addition to airing on ESPN2, the game will be available on ESPN 3(60) for those who have access.

Nice! I'm really hoping Danny can make the final roster for Team USA. I think it will be both good for him and our franchise.

That's great. If he plays like that tommorrow he has a chance to make the team. They are still going to cut 3 people.
By the way, who is Jared Wade?

score for all 4 quarters was US 98, China 51. Danny Granger led scorers with 22 points on 9-for-12 shooting. Rondo 7 ast.
Looks like Granger had quite a good game.

I'm thinking Granger's too valuable a part of this US team to get cut. Especially if he continues to explode in game situations like that.

maybe, Jeff Green, Eric Gordon, and maybe Iguodala or Gay. They might cut a PG also, they have 5 on the roster, who knows.

If the scrimmages are any indication, then Iggy's been great. I think McGee's an almost certain cut.

Gordon, McGee, Green are my guesses. If McGee stays on, they're probably trying to groom him for the future, and Love's cut.

It's also kinda unlikely they keep Gordon, Westbrook, Billups, Curry, Rondo and Rose all on the roster. 6'3" or shorter, all of them. They'll keep Billups, Rondo, Rose and either Westbrook or Curry I think. Westbrook doesn't really give them anything Rondo or Rose don't, so....

They said something about delaying them until somewhere around the 26th (I think)

I think Danny will make it. He brings a lot to the table. He can shoot, drive, can play the 3 and 4, hits his FT's, can defend and is probably the second best scorer on the team behind KD. Plus we have heard nothing but good things about him in this camp from the coaches. They said he looks good in scrimmages and today he dominated against China showing his finger is fine.

    espn article on the game

    http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/olybb/...ory?id=5464038

NEW YORK -- Short on size, the United States showed off a surplus of speed.

Danny Granger scored 22 points and the Americans sprinted past China 98-51 in a scrimmage Saturday at Madison Square Garden.

Sheridan: Green Likely To Be Cut
Though no one wanted to say it, it appears Jeff Green will be cut from Team USA after not logging a minute in Saturday's scrimmage, writes Chris Sheridan. Story

On a day they gave their strongest hint yet that they're prepared to take only one center to the world championships, the Americans were credited with a 32-4 advantage in fast-break points.

"We're the fastest team, I think, in the world, so we've got to use that to our advantage," Philadelphia's Andre Iguodala said.

Eric Gordon strengthened his case for a spot on the team with 15 points, while Kevin Durant added 14 and Derrick Rose had 12.

Granger, showing no effects from a dislocated ring finger on his shooting hand, was 9 of 12 from the field and made three 3-pointers. He was hurt earlier this week and missed a day of practice.

"I score the ball, that's what I do," Granger said.

Gordon made three of the Americans' 11 3-pointers. Though he's been considered on the bubble to make the final roster, he's played well in U.S. game action and supplies some of the outside shooting a perimeter-oriented team needs. He scored 16 points in the intrasquad scrimmage last month in Las Vegas.

    Team USA: Warmup Games
Here's Team USA's schedule of exhibitions leading up to the 2010 FIBA men's basketball championship slated for Aug. 28-Sept. 12 in Istanbul, Turkey:

    • Sunday: USA vs. France, Madison Square Garden, 1 p.m. ET, ESPN2, ESPN3.com
    • Aug. 21: USA vs. Lithuania, Madrid, Spain, 3 p.m. ET, ESPN, ESPN3.com
    • Aug. 22: USA vs. Spain, Madrid, Spain, 3 p.m. ET, ESPN3.com
    • Aug. 25: USA vs. Greece, Athens, Greece, Noon ET, ESPN2, ESPN3.com
    • FIBA World Championships website
Coach Mike Krzyzewski likely did show who two of his cuts will be, not using Jeff Green or JaVale McGee. If McGee is cut, it would leave Tyson Chandler as the only true center on the U.S. team.

The Americans believe they can overcome a lack of size with their speed and shooting. It worked for three quarters. The first field goal of the fourth quarter put the Americans up by 51 points.

The teams played four 10-minute quarters, with the score reset at the beginning of each period. The Americans outscored the Chinese 35-8 in the third, then lost the fourth 17-16 when Gordon was just short on a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

"We expected to win every quarter," Gordon said. "It didn't happen for us, but we really did good the first three quarters."

Yi Jianlian of the Washington Wizards scored 13 points for China.

Both teams will play Sunday in a doubleheader at Madison Square Garden. The United States faces France in its lone exhibition on home soil, with China meeting Puerto Rico in the second game.

The Americans leave Monday for three exhibition games in Europe. Their first game in Turkey is scheduled for Aug. 28.

"We just need to play," Krzyzewski said. "I'm not saying China's a great team or anything, but they've played, and that's what they do. They play internationally. Our guys need to play these scrimmages and games to get accustomed to the international game."

That's REALLY nice. Made 9 shots, but only 3 threes? Means he was going to the hoop. Maybe he'll pick up some good habits this summer.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I agree, I think that is the biggest thing the Pacers are hoping: that he is able to expand his game by playing in a different environment with excellent players.

I agree, it's likely to be Jeff Green, Javale McGee, and one of the thousand PGs on the roster, though talent, there's potentially what 5 PGs? Rondo, Rose, Westbrook, Billups, Curry. I don't know that 3rd person will be interesting

Earning a spot? IMO, Granger's been a lock for the team from the beginning. He's the second best wing on the squad after Durant.

The media are the only ones who have been hinting at the idea of Granger getting cut. I think Coach K and Colangelo have had him as a top 5 player on the squad from the beginning.

Or he's actually playing for a coach who uses Danny to his full abilities instead of wanting him to jack up 3s all the time.....
