Hi all. The admins have graciously allowed me to post this here. Seems a little strange, but...
Does anyone know anything about K2 or Spice incense or blends? It is currently legal in Indiana, but has been made illegal in many states. If you'd like to get your nerd on and read about it, look here, http://www.emcdda.europa.eu/publicat...c-cannabinoids. Spice/K2 are herbal blends of incense that are sprayed with a synthetic cannabinoid, similar to a natural cannabinoid, such as THC (Marijuana).
I am actively seeking urine/blood samples from known users of these products for research and development on detecting metabolites in urine and blood. If you don't know about my line of work, I work in Research and Development in a private forensic toxicology laboratory. This type of testing has possible applications in the compliance monitoring of patients on medications for pain management, postmortem analyses in coroner and medical examiner cases, DUIs/DWIs, etc. As an example, a person is stopped for driving erratically at night by the police. He fails a few field sobriety tests and is asked to submit to a urine test. Urine tests come back totally negative for the typical drugs of abuse. Person readily admits to smoking Spice 1 hour prior to getting in the car. At the moment, very little is known about the metabolism and excretion of these synthetic drugs. There are many of these synthetic compounds found in the herbal blends; I've detected 5 - 6 different compounds in my own research on the herbal blends.
If you do know of these compounds or use them yourselves and would be willing to serve the greater good and come to my lab to "donate" some urine or blood, please let me know. Remember, this is all for research and development purposes. PM would be good, but if you have a question about this, you can ask here to. Also, remember, this is not illegal in this state, so no laws are being circumvented.
