    Default Pacers and Bobcats

    Bobcats get: TJ Ford, D Jones

    Pacers get: Eric Dampier and future 2nd rounders

    This is maybe a last resort trade for TJ ford if the Pacers really want to trde him.

    Why for the Bobcats?
    They get a point guard who they were targeting and an efficient wing player.

    Why for the Pacers?
    They rid themselves of TJ Ford and avoid another Tinsley situation and frees up wing time for the young players. There are also 3 things we could do with the contract of Dampier. We could keep him and use him as a 1 year stop gap for PF ( he rebounds well) , cut him immediately because he has a full non garunteed contract and we would be under the cap now or we could use his contract in another trade.

    Dampier represents big time savings. I think the Bobcats could get more for him.

    I think something more realistic would be TJ for Boris Diaw straight up. He's a legitimate PF, and they need a PG. Contractually, Diaw has an extra year, but I think he's obviously better than TJ

    The first trade would be great, though Charlotte probably wants better players with better contracts for the Dampier instant-expiring contract.

    The second deal (TJ for Diaw) I like a lot, because he's a legit starting caliber player... only reservation I have about him is that he usually shows up to camp and spends the first few months of the season in terrible shape and seems to have the "mail it in" gene...

    Well I guess he'll be ok this year with the worlds (at least I hope so)

    how about this trade with Charlotte after September 13?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Congratulations on a successful trade.
    Due to Indiana and Charlotte being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Indiana and Charlotte had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
    I love each of the last two trades -- I think Henderson would be a great piece for us, especially because Charlotte is a presumptive playoff team this season whereas I'd assume we're not. An essential swap of Rush for Henderson helps both teams work towards their goals, and getting a guy like Augustin would be a great coup for us if he can find his stroke.
    I like this trade, but MJ has said he won't go into LT Land. The Bobcats are 8 mil over the LT now, and unless they cut Dampier's 13 mil contract the Bobcats will have to pay 8 mil plus lose the 3-5 mil each team gets for being under the LT. I just don't see MJ paying 8 mil in LT or losing out on the extra mil for being under the LT to trade Dampier.
    I agree! I tried to work up a deal with Charlotte, but it wasn't possible for us to get Dampier and not send Charlotte to tax land. The only way I found that made sense for both of us is the TJ Ford for Diaw trade.
