Man, when I read the title of this topic I thought that it was going to be about DC complaining that Indy's nightlife sucks and that he wasn't going to be happy here.

    Whew.

Speaking of what Collison thinks, has anyone heard an interview with him yet? I haven't read any quotes or anything.

Smiles here too! I love these "throw back" type of personalities that just live, eat, and breathe basketball. I had never heard this about him before, but it makes me like him even more.
Ha! In Bill Russell's book he says there were barely any players in the 60s and 70s who could sneeze without losing half their paycheck.

I think its cool that he kind of marches to his own drum

I do think also, that just becasue one enjoys the nightlife, does not mean necessarily they will haev problems

Michael Jordan gambled till 3am the night before a NBA Conf finals game (against the knicks)

Then came out and had 42 points and clinched the series

To me its not if you enjoy nightlife, but how you compose yourself while your out on the town, the people you surround yourself with, and you overal morals and values

I have met more than a few shtty people who were in church every sunday

    just my two cents

welcome Darren, you are now home

Unless people are being really creative or abusive drinking is the same act weather one chooses water or whiskey. I don't drink much however it would be very hard to find many people who suggest alcohol makes an activity extra boring.

Nice, I don't drink either. Boring is based in perception, to me drinking is boring, so maybe it is to Collison too. Anything can happen, but I think it's less likely from him.

About the girlfriend aspect, it can work either way. She can add to his personal life stability, or be a negative influence, or nuetral who knows.

While I don't want to commend him for what most would consider normal behavior, the truth is most college guys enjoy partying, and don't have long term relationships these days. To me it shows he's a level headed guy who just really loves basketball, and thats the type of player I like.

The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

    Let's go!
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

    Thank you.

And I have met some graet people who would never set foot inside any church.

I have friends that partied hard (fraternity and sorority kids) and were fine, and others who were not. I also had friends who never touched a drop of alcohol or went out, and guess what some were decent people and some were not.

It is a good indication, and I find it laughable people think people would lie about his personal life (it would be diffrent if it was his agent or even his coach, but come on)

While I can agree alcohol does not directly make an event boring, my point was some people don't like the repetitiveness of reliving the same night over and over, and not getting things accomplished. That's ultimately why I stopped drinking myself. I wanted to see some results instead of talking about them. Most people can find a balance, but some can't.

Good info, those decades are a little before my time. Maybe I should read Bill's book if this is the kinda stuff he's shedding light on. My point is players that have a strong love for the game in this generation are rare. I took this article as, you know that kid at your gym who never goes out and just plays ball, and works on his game seemingly 24/7. That's the type of player Collison is, and thats a great guy to have on the roster. The athletes today have blurred the line with celebrity, and its nice to have a guy who enjoys the game first and foremost.

You bozo's. This was on the radio during my physical therapy appointment today. I couldn't stop laughing.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you
