With season tickets sold out , Miami Heat fires the season ticket sales staff.

With the arrival of Lebron James, the Miami Heat rapidly sold out all their season tickets. That turned out to be bad news for the ticket-sales staff, which was fired Friday. In a statement, the Heat confirmed the dismissals Friday afternoon, saying that with an ``exhausted'' inventory of season-tickets ``we no longer require a season ticket sales team to sell tickets.'' Stephen Weber, vice president of sales, delivered the news to about 30 ticket sales people Friday morning, according to one of the staffers who asked not to be named because he is seeking another job in sports.

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

I agree , it just sucks for the employees .. But I will say , the Heat are going above and beyond in helping in job placement for them.. Not alot of places would do that, it would just be sayonara ..

I didn't really wanna make another thread since this is Miami/James-related , but check this out ..

I'd think they might keep a few on board to serve more as relationship specialists to appease and keep the current STH happy?

The Pacers basically did the same thing, they just didn't fire ALL the ticket people.

Before last season they fired/let go probably half of the ticket reps right after their big campaign to get new ticket holders and keep the ones that had not already left.

I'm just surprised to learn that they employed that many people just to sell tickets. Did they really need that many in the 1st place?

Yeah, but the spokesperson clearly said they were all gone.

    Shortsighted by the Heat.

People develop relationships with their reps if they are doing their jobs correctly. Whenever the Miami dynasty (assuming there is one) has run its course, seats will quickly empty. If they have reps who have a relationship with the fanbase, it becomes easier to retain some of those STH's if they like the rep who is contacting them about continuing to purchase tickets.

I wonder if they already have such staffers in place? Heck, most NFL teams have waiting lists for tickets and still employee ticket reps (Including the Colts).

I think PS&E was doing that as a cost cutting move. I seriously doubt the Heat are worried about cost cutting at this stage.

Why not? IF it keeps the Heat from coming to Miami local government and asking for a handout I'm all for them cutting unnecessary expenses.

Note that I said unnecessary expenses. I can't imagine they won't need a few STH/Team liaisons. If the cuts went too deep it's crazy... But it's not crazy to rid yourself of positions you no longer need. ...Unless we want to talk about any businesses responsibility to the economy as a whole and not just their own bottom line.
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

I know my rep's job was to get me to renew tickets. With that she would go out of her way to make my gameday experience as enjoyable as she possibly could. Retention is the priority of the season ticket staff.
