Default NBA Playbook's Sebastian Pruti: Paul George Wins The Game With Both Offense And Defense

I found this blog entry about Paul George and his offense/defense on the last play of the Celtics/Pacers summer league game- its pretty good.

There haven’t been too many close games in the Orlando Summer League, so when we get one, it is interesting to see how the rookies react. Sure, they have been in late game situations before during their prep/college career, but they never had to face this type of situation during their short stint as pros. Paul George found himself in a close late game situation yesteday, and he stepped up big time…On both ends of the court:

That is the kind of stuff you want to see from someone you drafted so high. Ultimately I don't care too much about the stats or anything in the summer league as long as he does things like that. It isn't hard to come by players that can put up big stats in summer league, but guys that show that they know how to capitalize on mistakes and step up when his team needs him isn't a quality that a lot of players have. That is one thing that Reggie Miller was a master at.

George looked very impressive in most respects. His efficiency will improve over time, and he already seems to have his head on straight. Add that to his formidable physical skills and attributes, and you have a very promising player, especially when he increases his strength over the next couple of years.

He also did a breakdown on Stephenson.

I suspect he shot over 90% on his free throws which were quite a few.

I couldn't find a stat line, just an article that only mentioned these stats, so I do not know. Although I think it is very likely since he only made 22 of his shots.

Not quite 90%, but still very very good.

I was very, very surprised/impressed by PG's defensive efforts in Orlando.

    Agreed.
    He's a very impressive athlete.
With his quickness and length he's going to be a handful when he gets in the flow of the game at this level.
We can put a pretty good looking defensive team on the floor now.

Can't wait for the start of the season to watch him perform with the veteran pros. His size can really put offensive/defensive mismatches and hopefully he'll utilize his strengths well.
