    Default Froyo

Im kind of surprised there isn't a thread on this yet. Anyone upgrade their Droid to Froyo yet? I did and I must say I am impressed. Im usually not on flash websites on my phone but it sure is nice to have the capability too, and honestly the load time isn't all that terrible. Also check out Chrometophone. It allows you to send stuff from Chrome right to your phone, websites, google maps directions, youtube links, highlight a phone number on a web page and send it straight to your phone to call. Its pretty sweet and rather quick. I think Froyo is a very good update, much better than Eclair.

I dont think its out yet for the Incredible, but i would imagine it will be soon. Apparently there is a leaked version out. I dont know if the OTA update went out for the Droid yet either, but google uploaded a copy and this link walks you through manually updating it.

And apparently there is a second update already, something about FRG22, just reading about it now on phandroid.

Yeah, I'm still on 2.1. I've got the LG Ally, and there's debate as to whether we get Froyo or not. If not, I'll probably end up rooting it and trying some custom ROMs... if any get released for the Ally. It's interesting how different the upgrade path is for the non-flagship phones.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

After years on Blackberry, I just ordered the Droid X. Sounds like we'll be getting Froyo in early September. Once that happens, I've got to think I'll have the best phone on the market.

Did they say how long it's going to take for you to get your Droid X? From what I've heard from folks at Verizon, they are selling so fast that they aren't even able to put them on shelves to fly off of.

Not bad, not bad at all.

I'm not sure if you've ever had an Android phone before, but if not, my advice is that as SOON as you get your phone going, download the free TasKiller app on the Marketplace. Very crucial app that every Droid user should have.

I've heard conflicting things about that. Apparently the newer ones run better when you're not killing tasks all the time. It's definitely better for my phone when I don't kill a lot of stuff. They kind of just whirr in the background ready to go if you need them, instead of having to open it whenever you want to use it.

The thing is, at least I know this to be true with my Droid and my cousin's Incredible, if you don't kill the tasks you're not using, your battery drains as a much faster rate.

I think it depends on how you use it. It's worth testing at least.

The Desire is basically the same as the Incredible inside with a slightly different feel outside, but for europe. I love my Incredible.

I got to play with Froyo a while back. I downloaded the Google Android emulator and development kit.

It's kind of fun, but when you're so used to an iPhone, it's hard to "love" it.

Regardless, it looks and feels like a pretty good OS.

    Task killer FTMFW.

I get 30 hours out of my phone's battery with pretty heavy text/email/call usage with that.

Which phone should I get, the EVO or the Samsung Captivate. I keep hearing that the Evo is pretty laggy, and the battery life is terrible, but i love that 4.3" screen. Heard nothing but greatness out of the Captivate/ Galaxy S phones, and it does have a 4" SAMOLED screen and felt pretty nice in the store, super fast and responsive.

Was going to get the Iphone 4, but the screen is just so small, and hard to type on. Certainly would work better on my Mac than an Android phone would though.

I'm having no issues, and the screen is just right.

Everything that I have read has said that the EVO is the 2nd best Android phone, closely ahead of the Incredible, after the Droid X. If you can't go Verizon, the EVO should be the choice.

Also coming on Thursday to Verizon is the Droid 2. It doesn't have the huge screen of the Droid X (which is why I picked the X over the 2) but internally it is nearly the same and it has a physical keyboard in addition to the touchscreen. Something to keep in mind.

I was actually strongly considering dropping at&t and not getting the iPhone 4 and going with Sprint and the EVO.

Unfortunately Sprint doesn't offer 3G in Bloomington, and they couldn't give me an ETA when they would be implementing it. I would've loved to have their Unlimited Everything plan.

Luckily, the Apple Store on Keystone got a shipment of iPhone 4's in Thursday, and I got what I really wanted.
