Default Schedule released, 17 national TV games

    http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/sched...05_040802.html

The Indiana Pacers announced Monday their 2004-05 National Basketball Association schedule, highlighted by the Nov. 6 home opener against Chicago, the traditional Thanksgiving night game, Nov. 25 (vs. Minnesota and 2003-04 MVP Kevin Garnett, 8:00 p.m.) and a Christmas Day home game (12:30 p.m.) against defending world champion Detroit. The games against the Timberwolves and the Pistons will be two of the Pacers’ 17 nationally-televised appearances on ABC, TNT or ESPN.

The Pacers will open on the road Nov. 3 at Cleveland and Nov. 5 at Boston before returning home to host the Bulls, Saturday, Nov. 6, at 8:00 p.m. in a game celebrating the fifth anniversary of the opening of Conseco Fieldhouse.

Other highlights on the home portion of the schedule include two visits from Shaquille O’Neal and the Miami Heat (Wed., Feb. 23 and Thu., Mar. 31); two home dates (Sat., Dec. 25 and Thu., Jan. 27) with the Pistons, the Pacers’ opponent from the 2004 Eastern Conference Finals; Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers with one visit (Fri., Mar. 18); Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs (Wed., Mar. 23); Brad Miller and the Sacramento Kings (Sat., Dec. 11); Lebron James and Cleveland (Fri., Feb. 25 and Wed., Apr. 6); and Carmelo Anthony and Denver (Sat., Jan. 29).

The Pacers will have three appearances on ABC (vs. New Jersey, Sun., Mar. 20; vs. New York, Sun., Apr. 10; and at Miami, Sun., Apr. 17); five on TNT (Thanksgiving night against the Pistons; Thu., Jan. 6 at San Antonio; Thu., Jan. 27 vs. Detroit; Thu., Mar. 3 at Denver and Thu., Mar. 31 vs. Miami); and nine showings on ESPN, the first of which will be Fri., Nov. 19, when the Pacers play at Detroit.

Again this season, all games will be carried on 1070 WIBC. The Pacers’ television schedule on WB4 and Fox Sports Net will be announced at a later date.

The Pacers last season, led by MVP candidate Jermaine O’Neal and Defensive Player of the Year Ron Artest, won the Central Division and compiled a league-best and franchise-record 61-21 mark.

For information on season, half and mini season ticket plans, contact the Pacers’ Public Information Department at (317) 917-2500.

8 of those Nat.TV games are NBATV, but that's still 9 showings on either TNT/ESPN/ABC

3 West Coast trips this year.

First one goes from Nov 28 - Dec 4, @ :sonics:

    Second one goes from Jan 6 - 11, @

Third is from March 3-8, @ :blazers:

The last two are easily harder than the 1st trip. I'd say the last one should be the hardest overall.

    This is interesting

For the first time ever, the NBA schedule features a weeklong series of games that highlight regional contests, divisional games and historic playoff matchups as part of Rivalry Week, which runs from Tuesday, Feb. 22 through Wednesday, March 2.

During the week, ESPN will feature:
Houston at San Antonio (Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 9 p.m. ET) Cleveland at Indiana (Friday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. ET)

A a rematch of the 2004 NBA Finals as the Lakers host the Pistons (Friday, Feb. 25 at 10:30 p.m. ET)

Miami at Orlando (Sunday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. ET)

Charlotte at New Orleans (Wednesday, March 2 at 9 p.m. ET)

As part of Rivalry Week, TNT will feature a doubleheader on Thursday, Feb. 24 as New York hosts Philadelphia at 7 p.m. ET, followed by

Sacramento at Dallas at 9:30 p.m. ET, a renewal of their playoff rivalry from the past two seasons. NBA TV will televise other key matchups during Rivalry Week, rekindling historic playoff rivalries including:
Boston at the Lakers on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 10:30 p.m. ET

Indiana at New York on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. ET

Utah at Houston on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. ET
The Lakers at New York on Monday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET

I think we can expect at least 55 wins.

Our schedule in april is cheese, we will probably end the season strong.

I can never analyse the schedule until it is put into calendar format, which NBA.com always does. They have not done it yet though

Sorry Hicks but the second one is far more brutal especially now that Shaq is not in LA lA land.

    1. January
    2. March
    3. February
    4. November
    5. December
    6. April

Is how I would rank the months, from most difficult to easiest. Although 3-5 are very close to being equal, IMO.

54 or 55 wins is my prediction for the season record. However, if Bender finally has his breakout year, that number will go up.

Although one thing I like is that the season will get easier as we go, so the toughest stretches we can tackle while we're most healthy, and have more energy. Then we get an easier stretch to end the year on a high note and be ready for the playoffs.

    Ding Ding Ding Ding!

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a winner in the annual "First to overreact to the schedule" award!

Hicks, we go through this every year. Every team plays 22 or 23 back-to-backs. It's no big deal.
