OK, so how crazy is that? Preseason I can understand, but playing games that count on a 8 hour jet lag?

Sounds like being the perfect punishment for the worst team in the league. Let's schedule it against Minnesota so these eurofolk get to see some high quality NBA ball first hand!
It must be because of the sports immense popularity in Great Britain...Why not go Mexico instead?
I wonder if the Nets were chosen, because of their new owner?
OK, just to prove I am not crazy, just old. what do they say the short term memory is the first to go, but the elderly really remember the good old days like it was yesterday
I was correct it was the Suns and it was in Japan and it was the regular season
Terrible idea. I would hate this especially if I was a season ticket holder.
When MLB baseball teams start the season in Asia they are almost guaranteed a bad start to the season (April)... I believe the last example was Red Sox and Athletics (who played each other) a few years back...Point being the Pacers were in Asia for some preseason games and had a bad start to last season, but it didn't effect the Nuggets. Maybe there is no parody between the longer regular season trip to Asia that MLB does, but it definitely has to come with on the fly adjustments for these creatures of habit...I think there is a direct correlation with the new owner and the Nets being chosen...I hope this doesn't become too common...

if NBA really wants to expand into Europe and other areas of the world, why not just create a second tournament ala football/soccer where the "champions" of each league compete with each other? This way instead of directly labeling the winners of NBA as "world champs" - they would actually have to earn the title by winning the match....
sure the rules can be different in each league - but if national teams can play by the same rules in international matches, no reason why regular teams can't...
