Default Dalembert to Kings for Nocioni, Hawes

chadfordinsider Scoop: Sixers agree to trade Dalembert to Kings for Nocioni and Hawes. Link coming shortly ...
half a minute ago via web

    http://twitter.com/chadfordinsider

The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to swap Samuel Dalembert to the Sacramento Kings for Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes, two league sources told ESPN.com.

The deal was agreed to on Tuesday night and the two teams have been working out details Thursday morning. Barring some last minute hitch the trade should be completed as early as Thursday afternoon, according to the sources.

The deal will give the Kings a player they've long coveted in Dalembert. The Kings tried to make several deals with the Sixers last year for Dalembert but couldn't make it happen.

Sacramento has been unhappy with their rebounding and shotblocking in the post. Dalemebert makes a lot of money ($12.9 million next year) but he's in the last year of his deal.

The trade gives the Sixers a physical combo forward in Nocioni and an up-and-coming big man in Hawes.

But the real ramifications may come during the draft. The Sixers have been deciding between Evan Turner and Derrick Favors with the No. 2 pick. While Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski is a Turner fan, head coach Doug Collins is high on Favors. With Dalembert gone and Nocioni in, it could push them in the direction of Favors.

For the Kings, this could also change their draft equation. The team has been looking at drafting DeMarcus Cousins and Greg Monroe, both centers. With this deal, it could allow them to address another need at the three. the Kings have been high on both Al-Farouq Aminu and Gordon Hayward.

I like it for Kings. Dalembert is a huge expiring and I'm not a big fan of Hawes' game.

I think 76'ers could do better but still not too bad. You get a young center who can shoot.

I suppose this is the first domino.

This to me means a couple things:
    1) Sacramento has settled on drafting Cousins. They just traded their starting center, so it would only make sense to replace him. It was reported that they were impressed with Cousins' workout.
    2) Philly is going for Turner. Hawes is the type of center that would complement Turner well, seeing as Hawes is a decent long-range shooter.

Makes sense. Dalembert has been a headache for Philly. Getting Noci gives them an average wing that has some range. Hawes is like.....a Murphy and Brad Miller basketball baby. 22 year old bigman with a decent outside game. Maybe Mehmet Okur is a better comparison?

I wouldn't say this rules out a Turner pick. Nocioni isn't good enough to sway someone to pick one over the other.

I'm surprised the NBA allows trades on the same day as game #7 of the finals

I would have loved to get Hawes

What an awful trade by Philly.

Hawes is soft and Noc is well overpaid for the next 3 years. Dalembert at least gave them a good inside defensive presence along with a massive expiring.

I wonder if this the first domino for a deal including Thad Young or Iggy? If they take Turner, they are stacked at the 2/3 with Noc.

I guess he'll be there, I don't think its for sure though.

    Means

    Wall
    Turner/Favors
    Wesley Johnson
    Cousins

Warriors have the 6th pick and that designates your 2nd or 3rd tier to begin. I'd trade it, if I was GS.

I actually think it could mean Gordon Hayward to the Kings.....Plus Hawes was deep on the bench last year...it's like he took a big step back in development. They might be taking Cousins, but I just don't think they will.

Well this certainly gives the Sixers a plethora of combo forwards. Probably means another deal is coming. Thad Young, perhaps?

Also, if Brand and Hawes is the starting front line for the Sixers now... maybe they are taking Favors instead of Turner? Otherwise, yikes.

The guy from RealGM that's got connections (sixerfan1976) says that Thad Young is the guy that Philly is trying to use to get another pick in the first round.

So that's the kind of value we can get for Murph's expiring?

No... because we aren't willing to take back a longer deal such as Nocioni's.

Wait a sec....it's been rumored that the Kings would be drafting Cousins or Monroe with #5. Now they get Dalembert, yet another Starting Center?

What's stranger is that the Kings will now have a PF/C rotation of:

Landry, Jason Thompson, Dalembert and Cousins/Monroe

That's 4 quality Players that have to share 96 minutes. But I guess it's just for one year since Dalembert is an Expiring Contract.

IMHO....the Kings win in this trade. They get an Expiring Contract while jettisonning Nocioni's contract ( that lasts until 2011-2012 ) with Hawes....IMHO hasn't really done too much. If they draft Cousins, he can slowly work his way up to speed by February and then the Kings can move Dalembert to a Playoff Team for some additional assets.

I know that the Sixers has been shopping Dalembert like...forever....but I don't get why they'd do this move. Hawes isn't enough sweetner to take on Nocioni's additonal year.

Then our expirings are going to be useless.

I will add that it seems like there will be a LOT more trades involving both the Kings and especially the Sixers in the coming week, but also lots of other teams involved in trades as well. Since this is the first trade to happen pre-draft, other stuff will probably start rolling in the days to follow. This is the time of the year that I like the best, especially when my team is not in the playoffs .

This trade makes the Collison, Okafor trade for Murphy or some other combo of expiring contract look good IMO

Hope Larry can make it happen.

He played in 72 games, started 59 and averaged 26.4 minutes per contest. His deep on the bench makes Josh McRoberts jealous.

For context, he averaged 1.3 minutes more than our Roy Hibbert.

I wonder if Detroit has something to do with this deal. Dumars has supposedly been talking to Sacramento about moving up. If Cousins falls to five, as anticipated, Detroit might be looking to jump ahead of Golden State at 6 to draft Cousins. I could see the Kings moving down to seven to get Aminu or Whiteside.

Detroit may take on Brand's contract and #2 for Tayshaun and #7. This would also give them Cousins.

I think this trade is definitely a lead in to another deal for one of the sides.

Dominoes and all that I understand...

but really, this is just two non-playoff teams trading rotation players.

Well a blockbuster trade like this takes all the buzz away from game #7.

Oops, wait I was thinking of the Lebron Sweepstakes.

I just thought trades couldn't be announced until after the playoffs.

It hasn't technically been announced yet. I don't think that David Stern can really control what Chad Ford writes.

Trades can be executed and announced between teams beginning the day after their season ends. The only teams that cannot make or announce trades are the Lakers and the Celtics.
