No summer league for Pyscho T

THE `BURBS - A number of people have sent me emails and tweets asking about an update on Tyler Hansbrough.
Do you want the good news or the bad news first?
I'll give you the good news first.
Word from down on Pennsylvania Street is that Tyler Hansbrough is progressing well and he should be ready for the start of training camp barring any kind of setback with his inner ear infection/concussion problem.
The bad news is that Hansbrough won't be trying to run anybody over during summer league.
The Pacers first-round pick last summer won't be part of the summer league team that plays in Orlando next month.
Look at it as it's better to be safe than sorry.
A number of you have also asked how come the Pacers and Hansbrough haven't talked more about his situation.
The team has to be careful because of medical privacy laws.
The Pacers issued a statement the day after the season saying that Hansbrough "is under the care of local and national medical experts regarding his condition that includes an inner ear infection and a concussion."
Hansbrough will basically be a rookie again whenever he returns to the court, which will hopefully be at the start of training camp for the sake of the Pacers.
Hansbrough isn't the only Pacer that won't be playing in Orlando.Brandon Rush, Roy Hibbert and Josh McRobert are also not expected to play.
Pump your brakes before you start going off about them not playing.
Summer league is usually limited to players in their first or second year unless they're a free agent trying to catch on with a team.
Ron Artest played in the Minneapolis summer league in 2005, but that was only because he was suspended most of the season for his part in the brawl.
The Pacers' three draft picks - No. 10, 40 and 57 - are expected to play in Orlando. That could change if they trade any of their picks, which they're open to doing, especially No. 10.
Again, it makes you wonder on Tyler's well being and how that may factor into what we do in about 3 weeks. I thought there might be a slight chance he would play this summer, but that appears to not be the case.
As I mentioned in another post, Hibbert told me tonight at the softball game that he probably wouldn't be playing in the summer league either. I would be surprised if Rush played and Josh could see some playing time, but may not play either. But no Roy, Rush, Tyler, Price and maybe McRoberts means our team will be comprised of whomever we draft, sign as a free agent and Marcus Williams, who we signed at the end of the season.
