    Default Trip Planning Advice

So once I finish up the Bar and before I start working/crying nonstop for the next 10 years or so, I'm taking a couple weeks to head for Europe. Never been. I was planning to fly into Rome, spend a couple days there, swing through Southern Italy (Naples, Pompeii, Amalfi Coast) and then head to the Greek Isles.

    Anybody been? Pointers?

haven't been to Italy but I've always been told that I MUST visit Rome as its definitely worth a trip.

Wait a second..where is Budapest on your list?

I don't know that the girl I'm traveling with would understand why I had to ditch her for a couple days so you and I could have a sexy party. But if she backs out, my itinerary changes.

you don't have to ditch her unless the plans are already settled for you two with regards to destinations...

You'll love Greece, Btown. Plenty of goodlooking (tourist) ladies and plenty of southern European ladies selling goods to tourists. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly people, beautifull weather and nature, good nightlife on most islands that are atleast halfway tourist oriented (which is accounts to a huge amount of islands).

Beware with drinking water out of the watercrane in Hotels and such. Better just to buy bottles of water, but that's about the worst thing I can think off now. I have been to Zakynthos and Lefkas. Both beautifull, but I liked Zakynthos best. Little less tourist then Lefkas (though still plenty to go around) and I loved biking up the mountains there and taking a boattrip around the island with a stop about halfway where there's a paradiselike small beach with a small (unimportant) shipwreck.

Another place that I found interesting was Bucharest, the capital of Romania. My ex-girlfriend, whom I met in Holland, came from Romania, so she showed me around the city.

Other places you should visit: Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Prague (amazingly beatifull old architecture take my word for it), Vienna and Venice.

This is all assuming you want to go to mostly pretty hot summer destinations, otherwise North Western Europe holds a lot to see aswell.

How do you even consider a trip to Europe without making a weekend stop in Amsterdam?

    Communism. That's how.

Three things I would never travel without:

(watch for blade length and customs laws, if you're not good with losing your multi-tool, just carry a cork screw, that's mostly what you'll need this for anyway.)

This is all about the insanely high limit being useful in emergencies. Had a friend who had a serious medical emergency in South America. This card gave them the $5,000 or so to get home and under the knife within 48 hours. It was quite literally a life saver.

Oh, and it's not my thing, but I want you to have a good time, so don't forget this:

Most MCs or Visa Cards have moderate limits - sometimes not enough to buy a last minute one-way ticket to Boston (or wherever), that's why I carry and recommend AmEx. I don't ever use it, but I know it's there.

    Oh. my. God.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you
