    Wow.

Speaking of bad calls, have you seen the "Playoff Miracles" spot that ESPN has been running where they include LJ's "4-point miracle" from back in the day? Ridiculous. They put it in there with "Havlicek stole the ball!" and the like. Srsly, NBA is dumb sometimes.

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

I think Camby hooks Hill as he runs by the screen. The crazy part is putting Nash on the line. He is 4 feet away from anyone before or after the whistle and clearly wasn't possibly fouled by anyone.

Yeah we had a thread about this. IMO the call was right, just put the wrong player on the line. Otherwise I think the idea that as the video suggests, worst call ever, no, not even that bad of a call.

I'd have to disagree with you. The fact of the matter is that they DID say that someone fouled Nash. When a player doesn't have a defender within 4 feet of him and the ref blows the whistle and says that someone fouled NASH, that is one hell of a bad call, and possibly one of the worst ever. Just because they didn't call a foul elsewhere on the play doesn't take away from the fact that the one that they did call was absolutely terrible and wrong.

If you watch the play carefully, he meant to call the foul that was there, Camby fouled Hill, you can see that by the timing of the foul and where he is looking. So IMO good call, bad execution putting Nash on the line,. One of the other refs should have stepped up and assisted Joey.

Not sure why I am arguing this again, did all this two weeks ago

    You were wrong then to.

I'll quote you what I said to you in the other thread and I still believe it stands today.

Actually it is a horrible call. Not only did Camby not grab Hill, Grant turned his shoulder into him on the screen so that could have been an offensive foul on Grant Hill.

However in truth that was nothing but incidental contact so that should have just been play on.

I wasnt around for the first thread...........but that is a horrible call. No one was close to Nash, even the commentators are COMPLETELY shocked and confused.

One of them even said "Joey you missed a one there, I mean REALLY missed one"

Here's more of Joey in action.......

That ejection on Duncan is when I stopped taking Joey Crawford seriously. One of those videos actually says "he's one of the best in the business", which I find to be a complete joke.

Its really a shame that Joey is still officiating. He was great. Unfortunately, the word "was" now gets a lot more emphasis than the word "great."

As we discussed last week, the real problem is that there are no good young officials, so Joey is probably still in the top-ten. And that's bad for everyone.

Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

I can't believe you guys are arguing that it should even be a foul and that Hill should be shooting. I guess you guys think that you should go around every screen and that there shouldn't be any contact what-so-ever in the game. If that's a foul, then every single player would foul out prior to the 7 min mark of the first quarter. Boxing out? Foul. Posting up? Foul.

If not taking into account the implications of the call, that's worse than the LJ 4 point play, IMHO.

If I remember correctly, that was Camby's 4th. It was ticky tack in a game where the refs were dominating the game. Let them play. Howard's first round could were legitimate.

I don't see how anyone could think Camby fouled anyone there. Peck is right if there is any call there its an offensive foul on Hill.

The fact that Nash goes to the line makes the whole thing go from bad call to absolutely laughable. Call it bad execution if you want but you need to be going senile to put Nash on the line there.

Have to agree with UB here. It was a foul (Camby fouls Hill). It is a common away from the ball foul when big men are setting picks for swing players around/under the basket while the point guard is waiting at the top of the key to pass to a swing player who gets open.

It is just that Joey Crawford put Steve Nash on the line which was a mistake.

Is it your board ordered duty to just blindly defend any action of the referees and coaches in the NBA?

I don't know what was crazier, you thinking that the ref who threw the ball into the stands was less in the wrong than the fan who yelled at him, or that Joey Crawford got this absurd call, right.

It wasn't a foul, Nash shouldn't have been shooting, the game has gotten too fast for Joey, it's passed him by. End of story.

Buck has taken a serious beating on these boards in the last year or so... but he always seems to take it in stride and maintain a positive, if argumentative, attitude.

    You gotta respect that.

I just watched the video about 20 times and I don't see how anyone can justify that that Nash should have been at the line shooting freethrows. The only contact on that play was Camby and Hill. Hill actually intiated the contact by putting shoulder on Camby as he passed, so yes there was contact..... just not on Nash. It could have been an offensive foul or defensive foul OR even a no call. In no way shape form or fashion should Nash been at the line seeing as how he wasn't even close to where the call was. If you watch Joey is the baseline official and he calls it immediately after the contact made by Hill and Camby. He even points to the ground to where Hill and Camby are and Nash is about 13 -15 ft away from where he points. So why does Nash shoot freethrows.............idk?????

But it was a bad call, bad execution, bad eyesight, bad whatever you wanna call it. But something bad happened on that play.......IMO.

No one in their right mind would do that nor has anyone even hinted that Nash should have been at the free throw line

Ok maybe it was 19, but I'm off work on sick leave and bored. Been off for a year now so maybe I am not in my right mind Buck, are you okay with that?
