Default Sixer willing to trade 2nd pick with Brand

Would you take Brand if you could get the 2nd pick in the draft?

    Evan Turner, anyone.

    For John Wall, absolutely.

    For Evan Turner, probably not.

I trade them Murphy and our 10th YESTERDAY for that package. And I think Elton's done.

I know it is an ugly contract, but what is the money/years left?

From the link in the OP:

Brand's deal pays him $51 million over the next three seasons.
Man, I want Evan Turner. If Brand could stay healthy, shoot...he may not be a bad pickup. Not great, but not bad.

I mean I'm very much aware of what a horrible contract that is, but after all we've been through, that's not as bad as where we've been and where we are now so long as our other contracts moving forward are smart.

I think it's worth it because we desperately need above-average talent.

We have just about the best cap relief to do it. Turner and Granger with Hibbert sounds pretty good.

A number of teams have already looked into the availability of the Philadelphia 76ers' No. 2 pick in the June 24 draft.

The asking price? Several sources said they were told that the Sixers want their trade partner to take Elton Brand off their hands. Good luck with that. With Brand set to earn $51 million over the course of the next three years, he's virtually impossible to trade.

As much as teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves, for instance, love Evan Turner, I don't think they love him that much.

Does any other team have a better offer for PHI with regards to financial relief than us? I mean I'm guessing there are teams that are on par with us, but better?

I'd have to seriously consider it, especially if the Pacers get to keep the 10th pick also. I'd think the Sixers would consider one of our expirings as it would get them off the hook quicker.

You're right. That and Brand played in 76 games last season. It can't be that bad of a deal, right?

Then again, we get rid of Murphy, everyone would find something else to complain about.

Exactly. I would call this draft a successful one if they were able to snag the #2 pick alonside the #10 pick.

Afterall, we did take Murphleavy. It's our style to help other teams out with unattractive contracts.

From what I understand, there was a lot of hype bringing in Brand to Philly this offseason. If he shows he's healthy, maybe he could be a decent pickup. Eventually he will become and expiring.

I don't think it is impossible. It would take Dunleavy and foster, or Murphy and Foster, maybe even TJ and Foster.
Brand is owed about 16 mil next year.

Brand's contract can be broken down into roughly 16M, 17M & 18M over the next three seasons. Other than Granger, the Pacers core will be players still on relatively cheap contracts through those years. Rush, Hibbert, AJ, Dante, Hans, McBob and this years draft picks will all be lower, manageable amounts.

If the Pacers are absolutely knocked out by a player available at the #2 pick, it would not be a financial death sentence to send out (for example) Murphy and Ford for Brand and the pick.

All that being said, I don't know that I'd do the deal. A healthy and productive Brand was a very good player. Now? I'm not sure.

We'd be basically using our capspace on Turner and Brand.

If Brand could come anywhere close to what he was a couple of years ago, it'd be a huge coupe with us not only picking up Turner but adding a talented, veteran power forward to put next to Roy.

Of course that's a very big, very expensive if.

Depends how good Turner is going to be. I have no idea, never seen him play. is he a point guard at all.

also how much would brand's 17 m per year deal curtail anything the pacers might want to do in the summer of 2011.

He's not a PG. He handled the ball for OSU a lot but he's a pure wing.

    As for 2011, I don't think that's an issue.

This could be our summer of 2011. He can play the point, but i wouldn't want him to be our starting point guard. He could start with Price and help out alot bringing the ball up and distributing it. He would be similar to Jalen Rose as a point guard, but he is a much better player.

I was just thinking of all the scenarios when I first heard out about this. Brand for Murph, #10, 2nd rd pick, cash, BRush, and Price works. Would that be enough?

He is very quick to get to the rim. I watched him alot this year and sometime I was in awe of how quick he was.

Heck, if Turner pans out to be a good pick, a great starting player for us, the scenario for 2011 would be completely different for us. We would just need pieces, maybe one more core player. I'm not saying that Turner will be a superstar, but he and Wall both have potential.

From watching Turner this year, he is a low-risk high-reward type of player.
