    Default Your Top 10 Videogames

So another board got me thinking about this and here is my top 10. This is not based on how technically good the game was, graphics, or really gameplay. It was just how much fun my friends and I had with it.

    1) GoldenEye 007 (Nintendo 64)

This started my obsession with FPS. I cannot count how many hours my friends and I set in our homes and played this on such a small TV.

    2) Halo CE (Xbox)

This took my love of FPS to a whole new level. Everything about this game was fantastic. Getting it online just blew my mind. Nothing beats Rockets on Longest.

    3) Donkey Kong Country (Super Nintendo)

I loved this game more then any of the Mario's. The Mine Kart level is still one of my favorites.

    4) Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Super Nintendo)

Never been a big RPG fan, but just something about this pulled me in and it was fun to play.

    5) Conflict: Desert Storm (Xbox)

This game was not the greatest made, but playing four player co-op through the storymode was just crazy. One friend being the heavy gunner Conners and myself the sniper Foley and it was just so much fun sneaking in and attacking a Iraqi base.

    6) GTA Vice City (PS2)

This was my favorite GTA game of all time. I love the story because it followed some of Scarface's story. Just buying all the land, making money, and running around shooting up the place was just so much fun.

    7) Super Mario Brothers 3 (NES)

Got to love getting the racoon tale.

    8) NFL 2K5 (Xbox)

My favorite sports game ever. It did football right. I am still depressed that the NFL basically killed it with their deal with EA.

    9) Warcraft 2 (Computer)

Warcraft 2 was my first strategy game and I had to defend the humans for those evil orcs. Then I turned around and conquered the humans as the evil orcs. Playing online was so much fun. Just seeing another guy try and save his peasants as my orcs and ogres flowed into his city was so much fun.

    10) Saints Row 2 (Xbox 360)

This game took GTA 3 and just went crazier. I loved all of the customization of the cars, your outfit, your gang, and the sheer over the top antics made it so much fun.

    Games that come to mind:

    Goldeneye
    Mario Brothers 3
    Super Mario World
    Grand Theft Auto 3
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
    Final Fantasy VII
    Warcraft 2
    Starcraft
    Diablo 1 & 2
    NBA Jam
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
    Half-Life

I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton, but that's off the top of my head or seen on the list above.

I don't think I could rank them without revisiting them all again and remembering more about my initial experiences with them.

    Thewholewolfnshow31,

Starting this post with GoldenEye 007 makes me love you. In a totally non-creepy way. I have no list to add myself, but that being #1 makes you legit. That game was HUGE.

LOL! It was not even debate. Given how many hours I wasted in my friends basement playing that game and how much trash talking it created it had to get the top spot. I still laugh at the paint ball cheat that you could use.

Nothing beats the very first level of the campaign when you got to shoot a guy sitting on the toilet.

    In no particular order...

Fallout 3 - I wrapped at least 200 hours into my main character in this game and I guarantee I didn't see everything it had to offer.

Final Fantasy II (in America, in Japan it was IV I think) - Not as visually pleasing and no complicated battle systme to master, but it's still my favorite FF title. That damned wall that was almost impossible to beat still gives me gaming nightmares.
Super Mario Bros. 3 - The best of the Mario games in my opinion. I know some prefer 64 but this one was the first game where I begged my mom to get it for me on the day it came out. My friends and I got it home, plugged it in, and played so long it smoked my NES and we had to go to a friends house.

Team Fortress Classic - I never was a fan of Counter Strike which was the other team based Half-Life mod. I joined a clan and we actually played among some really elite competition on the various online ladders. Tons of fun.

Street Fighter II - I'm absolutely certain that if you added up every dollar I've spent on this game at the arcade and on the various console versions, I could have my very own Street Fighter II cabinet in my basement.

The Legend of Zelda - This is the first game I got and had that obsessive desire to complete it and see everything, and what a show it was. The original still hasn't been topped.

Mega Man II - I remember seeing this game in action for the first time and being blown away by the now ancient graphics.

Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal - I like all the Ratchet and Clank games but this one is the best.

Burnout: Revenge - Soooooo much fun. I beat the hell out of this thing. It took a lot of time to get a 100% completion.

Homeworld - As far as I'm concerned this is the gold standard that all RTS games should be compared to.

Tecmo Super Bowl - I loved giving the ball to Bo Jackson and letting him run around behind the line for 5 minutes dodging and juking. You could take him down and get right next to the goal line, then run all the way back to the other goal line, then go and score. Not realistic, but it sure was fun.

This reminds me of the part of Billy Madison where he is at the lunch table with the kids and one of the kids says, "Mortal Kombat has to be the greatest game of all time."

Billy says, "I disagree, I think Donkey Kong is the greatest game ever."

The kid then says with an attitude, "Donkey Kong sucks!"

Hmm off the top of my head here are some of my favorite:

    Golden Eye
    NFL 2k5
    GTA Vice City
    Starcraft
Halo (mainly for changing the game and really expanding online play)
    Sonic (for the Sega Genisis)

Anyone have the StarCraft 2 Beta? Just got it and will be wasting many hours on it this summer most likely.

I am glad to see that I was not the only one that found this hidden gym. Sure the game was not the best graphically, but it sure was fun with three other friends playing split screen.

In chronological order, I wouldn't even know how to rank them:

Dragon Warrior - First RPG I ever played. I don't think I understood the word "epic" until I played this.

Super Mario Bros. 3 - Only Mario game I've ever owned, and IMO the only Mario game worth owning. I'd heard the New Super Mario Bros. compared to this, but it's a cheap imitation from what I've seen.

Tie Fighter - Improved immensely on X-Wing, and had a fun little story to boot.

Civilization II - Ugh, I don't even want to think about the hundreds (thousands?) of hours I've played Civ. Still pound for pound the best one, though.

Wing Commander 3 - They took an already great space flight-sim and added a movie production with Luke Skywalker, Biff Tannen, Sallah, and a porn star to boot?!

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - To this day I still remember how floored I was by the Darth Revan reveal.

God of War - Introduced me to the joys of pure, unadulterated bloodlust.

Mass Effect - The last couple hours of this game are perfection. Best soundtrack, too.

Uncharted 2 - If you have a PS3 and you don't have this game, to paraphrase Kevin Butler - "WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!!!"

Heavy Rain - Blew through this in a day and then couldn't sleep afterwards. I hate the hyperbole, but it really does make you question what a video game can be.

    1. Halo: Combat Evolved. (XBOX) I mean, what is there to say? One of the few FPS to have an actual STORY, unmatched level design, and revolutionary environments that were living, breathing worlds, and one of the first FPS on a console to not only NOT handle like Dog ****, but also handle pretty damn good control-wise.

    2. Daytona USA (Arcade) "Please select a race course: BEGINNER! Please choose Manual or Automatic Transmission: MANUAL! GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES! ROOOOOOOOOLLING STAAAAAAAAAAART! 3! 2! 1! GO! And we're under way! Time Extension! Time Extension! Time Extension! White flag is out, this is the final lap! You placed 1st! G-A-M-E-O-V-E-R! GAME! OVER!"

    Yeah.......I went there.

    3. NASCAR Racing 2003 Season (PC)........This game is now 7 years old and is still the most realistic game, not only NASCAR-wise, but racing-wise, as well.

    4. Wolfenstein 3D (PC) 1st ever FPS. A legend in it's own right. Plus, you get to kill Hitler? Awesome.

    5. Super Mario 64 (N64).......Fun, Challenging, and breathtaking worlds. In 1996, you couldn't believe games could look that good.

    6. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) Timeless.

    7. ESPN NFL 2K5 (XBOX) Greatest. Football. Game. Ever.

    8. King's Quest (PC) Amazing.

    9. Contra (NES) Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start. Didn't even need it, though. Beat this game many times with my father as a kid.

    10. NBA Hangtime (Arcade) Still say this game puts NBA Jam to shame.

Oh my God, I totally forgot about Shenmue. You want to talk about hidden gems, Shenmue is truly a MASTERPIECE. It's a shame that not enough people have played it. Shenmue and Shenmue 2 are simply amazing.

I can't let this slide. There are NO bad mario games. Sure, some are just ok (sunshine/mario 2), but they aren't really bad games, just different. There are other mario games that are just brilliant (SMW and MG), and the upcoming MG2 looks amazing.
