I expect him to be a poor man's Mike Dunleavy. Not a bad player. Almost certainly not a starter...but he will be able to play in the league. I don't know if he would be a good 6th man, but I do know going for the money right now is the correct move. He has been well advised.

I don't think he'll be a bad player. He'll be a good guy to bring off the bench. Possibly averaging about 10 points a game.

If I had the chance to make around 10 million dollars over the length of a rookie contract I'd do it too. Most people won't make that in a lifetime, and if basketball doesn't work out for him then he has the time and money to pursue a different career after his rookie contract runs out.

Mid to late 2nd round, non-guaranteed rookie contract with struggle to make the cut. May last two seasons. So, not even Adam Morrison, but I still chose "Eh. he made some good money."

I think he'll be a useful rotation player whose value in part will stem from an unselfish, team-first attitude. Will never start, and possibly won't even ever average much more than 20mpg, but he's a tough kid and some team will find a spot for him.

I think he'll be a 5th starter on a good team, scoring about 12-14 ppg.

He'll be like a Kyle Korver. Not necessarily in terms of style of play, but level of success.

I suspect he will be a better defending Dunleavy. Which is not too shabby.

I couldn't be more sick of hearing about Gordon Hayward. He's not a Pacer. He's an as of yet undrafted guy who happened to play in the state of Indiana. Enough threads about him. Enough discussion about him. Take your man love for the Indiana product to another board, let's talk NBA basketball and Pacer basketball, unless we think we need 2-5 threads for every guy we MIGHT draft.

Here's an idea, if "Gordon Hayward" is in the subject line, you might not want to click on the thread.

Hate to tell you, but we're gonna be talking about the draft for the next 7 weeks, because there is no Pacers basketball right now. So there's gonna be 2-5 threads about every player we might draft, plus a lot we won't.

You saved me from posting the samething about Hayward. 3 threads as of now in the 1st 6 threads on this forum.... 2 new ones today. What in the world hasn't been discussed about him that needs more threads???

I figure there be more more threads now about Hayward than there were "Fire O'Brien" threads, and there were way too many of them.

Oh don't be naive Kegboy, the Hayward spam is entirely homer related, each prospect will not get 2-5 threads and I don't think for a second you believe that. The other prospects and draft talk somehow manage to confine themselves... to the draft thread. Even if we need a thread for each player, why can't it be one thread? Do we need a continuous status update about a specific player with a new threads each day? Of course not.

    Blah.

Yes, it's homer related. So? Seriously, what else is there to talk about?

Plays similar to Dunleavy, however, I believe his career will follow the same path as that of Kirk Haston. He won't be in the league 5-6 years from now.

Why do you think he'll be a 2nd round pick?

He would not even be coming out if his advisers were not pretty certain that he'll be a 1st rounder and get a guaranteed 3 year contract. That's the whole point of him coming out early, otherwise he would stay at Butler.

Well, let's review this - Brownsburg kid (FYI - Brownsburg is 6 or 7 miles west if Indy), went to a local school - Butler, team made a strong run at a NCAA title with Hayward as the premier player, projected to go 10 - 20 in the draft (Pacers have the #10 pick) .......... yeah, I'd say there's a homer element involved here.

I'm sure you have a point, but it escapes me.

Oh, by the way, thanks for voting in the poll.

I actually like the optimistic homerism. It makes me smile.

I hope this comes true, actually. I just don't think it's remotely possible. For one thing, the 5th starter is very unlikely to score 12-14ppg. For another, as a SF, Hayward has his work cut out in the NBA simply because he is more of a tweener....and at 29% in college from three, that's simply not impressive against the level of competition he faced during the regular season.

They make me smile too, but sometimes they make me trow up, there was one guy that called the Eddie White show and said that he thought that Gordon was a combination between the Magic Johnson vision and Larry Bird's shooting touch, I was not driving at that time but I am pretty sure I could have had an accident for listening to that funny bs.

I don't really consider it homerism. Check his freshman year shooting from 3 pt percentage when defenses weren't geared to shutting him down, because those are the types of looks he'll get again in the NBA. That's what a lot of people don't seem to understand around here. Defenses in the NBA aren't going to view him as "the guy" anymore, he'll get a lot more open looks.

Based on a survey of nine NBA officials -- general managers, player personnel directors and scouts -- the Bucks would choose from either Butler small forward Gordon Hayward, Oklahoma State shooting guard James Anderson or Marshall power forward/center Hassan Whiteside. Those aforementioned players each received three votes in a poll I recently conducted and tied for the 15th-best player in the draft, which will be held June 24.

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.
