    Default 2-1

That's what we need to go over the next 3 games to beat our 37-15 start to last season.

    Will we do it?

New York, Toronto, Miami? Hell, we better win all three of those. In fact, we should go 4-0 from now till the all-star break, or at least 3-1. The last game is against Chicago.

40 wins before the All-Star break?

That's what I was thinking. Something magical about that "40" number in comparision with the All-Star break.

In the playoffs, looking back on the season, sportscasters aren't likely to say "Jeez, they had 39 wins by the All-Star break."

But it's very likely they would say something like "For Pete's sake, these guys had 40 victories by the All-Star break."

It's something other than playoff success and a title that elevates descriptions of the season from a "good" one to possibly an "excellent" one. It's also something we've never accomplished.

We'd better go 2-1 at least.

Man, 40 wins at the all-star break would be sweet too.

Nah. I said "would be sweet" not "will be sweet", so I think we're safe.

I guess I never paid attention before but the all star break comes really late.

Yeah, I think it is a little later this year. A week maybe.
