The Orlando Magic have agreed to trade power forward Drew Gooden, Steven Hunter and the rights to second-round draft pick Anderson Varejao of Brazil to the Cleveland Cavaliers for center/forward Tony Battie.

Hunter, a free agent, had to be signed to a new contract before the deal becomes official later today.

Battie, 6-11, 240, averaged 5.6 points and 4.9 rebounds last season, playing in both Boston and Cleveland.

Gooden averaged 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds last season, his first full year in Orlando.

Looks like they are trying to replace Boozer. Pretty good trade for the Cavs and Magic.

Battie's knee problems are possibly chronic. He has not been able to practice (plays in games only) for years.

Gooden can produce, and maybe Silas can even get him to defend. He was badly misused last year sitting behind Howard.

Depending on what Hunter's contract is like, it's a good deal for the Cavs. Gooden and Varejao will fill the hole left by Boozer's better than most think. Plus the Magic make room for Howard by dealing some redundancy.

Wow, so Gooden's value has gone from Mike Miller to Battie. Ouch.

If anyone thinks Gooden can fill the hole left by Boozer, I think you are wrong.

Gooden just is not very good at all, and he is a little screwy. He has very little mental toughness at all. Would not want him on the Pacers.

Pretty good move for the Cavs. Poor Drew Gooden, his first few years in the league and he has moved more than anybody else in his draft class. I dont hink its that bad for Orlando, at least as long as Battie can stay healthy.

There is a pretty good reason why he has moved so many times so soon

Drew gooden is the anti-boozer. A lot of talent, but the biggest pansy among NBA power forwards. He'll run with LeBron, but dont expect him to rebound for him or block shots.

Personally, I think Steven Hunter is the most promising player in this deal.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.
