    Default DALLAS

We have a recent history of making trades with Dallas. I figure we can continue that trend this year once the season is over.

    Troy Murphy 2 yr, 23.0M
    $3M Cash
Rescind the rights on the 2nd Round pick they owe us

    for

    Erick Dampier 2 yr, 25.2M

In this deal, we trade Murphy's expiring contract to Dallas for Dampier's non-guaranteed final year. We take 12M off our books for next year by cutting Dampier. We send them $3M cash to cover some of Murphy's cost next year. They also get just over $1M off their cap figure which saves them $2M. Murphy will cost them some in LT next year, but they will end up spending that money anyway with Cuban there. They don't have any room to make a splash in free agency other than re-signing Haywood. They get to keep their second rounder so they can fill their 13th roster spot with a rookie at ~500k.

I think we would definitely take back a guy like Barea or Beaubois to help them shed more salary, but they would have to be willing to get rid of one of them. We could send them Soloman Jones if they are looking for more depth in their front court for one of their young PG's.

I cant see any scenario where the Pacers send out 3 million in cash. Receiving end? yes Giving end? no...They have too many financial challenges to be doing so.

No chance Dallas touches that deal. Mark Cuban is one of the most freespending owners in the league, but even he knows that 8 figures is too much to pay Murphy to back up the best player on the team, especially considering there's no chance they could ever play effectively together.

why do the Pacers do this? We take on more salary, then we give them $3 Mill??

Doesnt make sense at all. Also, imagine playing Hibbert and Dampier together .... plus, Damp is injury prone in his late career
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

Why would Dallas want Murphy ?? He's a poor man's Dirk. A very poor man's Dirk.

    And Cuban ain't poor.
